一，含有单数名词的固定短语
名词固定短语中，有些是名词单数，有些名词复数。但是在下列短语中，只能接名词单数，而且没有任何冠词。要掌握这些词组，只能多读，多动笔写写。俗话说得好，好记性不如烂笔头。实际上在使用各种句型中，慢慢就记得了。例如感叹句中的名词，在我的专栏中，有很多名词的使用，都与大家不熟悉的单数名词词组有关。
What good care the grandmother took of my baby!那位奶奶把我的婴儿照顾的多么好啊！(care)We take pride in our great country.我们为我们伟大的祖国感到自豪。(pride)Don't lose heart. You will succeed in no time.不要灰心，你迟早要成功的。(heart)The couple were walking hand in hand in the street.这对情侣手拉手一起在街上散步。(hand)The government is paying attention to the education.政府越来越重视教育了。(attention)二，有a, an, one, this, that 等数量限定词的时候，只能用单数形式。
What an excellent student!多么优秀的学生啊！On one hand, he is a child. On the other hand, he won't make the same mistake in the future.一方面，他还是个小孩。另一方面，他以后不会犯相同的错误了。This pair of shoes is beautiful.这双鞋很漂亮。（pair）That means doesn't work. 那种方法没有效果。（means, 方法，单复数形式一样）三，有些名词以S结尾，但不一定是复数形式，而是单数。
Physics is the most difficult for him.物理对于他来说最难了。Politics is my favorite subject.政治是我最喜欢的科目。Maths is easy for me. 数学对于我来说很简单。This means is quite useful.这种方法很有用。（means单复数形式一样）四，不可数名词只能是单数形式，不管它左边有多少的形容词修饰。
The boy doesn't like chicken.那个男孩不爱吃鸡肉。(chicken，鸡肉)Don't drink too much coffee.咖啡不要喝得太多。(coffee)Drink more water when you have a cold.当你感冒的时候，多喝水。(water)Word came that his grandfather died yesterday.消息传来，他爷爷昨天去世了。（word 消息，不可数名词）五，这些词（组）只能接不可数名词单数
The old man has a great deal of money.那个老人钱多。（a great deal of ）How much bread did you have for breakfast this morning?今天早点你吃了多少面包？（how much）He did a large amount of research in the field.关于这个领域他进行过大量的研究。（a large amount of）We have little money at home, so I want to get some from the bank tomorrow. 家里没有钱了，所以我想明天去银行取点。(little)My brother ate only a little lunch, because he had a stomachache.我弟弟中午随便吃了一点，因为他肚子疼。掌握了上面五个方面，以后在选词填空，英语写作的时候，就不会模棱两可了，而是胸有成竹。
