At 7:00 PM on April 29th, the first autonomous bus route on a major thoroughfare in downtown Guangzhou, "Yangcheng Smart Bus Cultural Tourism Demonstration Line" on Dongfeng Road, began trial operation. It is also the first demonstration line themed around cultural tourism.

At 6:30 PM that day, reporters spotted a sign for the "Meidong Road Terminal of Yangcheng Smart Bus" at Exit D of Yangji Metro Station. The terminal had been fully upgraded, with blue lighting highlighting its technological feel. At 7:00 PM, a smart minibus made its debut, featuring lion dance designs and seating for six passengers.

The route spans 13.6 kilometers and takes approximately 55 minutes to complete. Operating daily from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, it runs about every 20 minutes with four vehicles in service. The line passes through three sections of Dongfeng Road and connects to Metro Lines 1, 2, and 5, linking several attractions including the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall (Guangzhou). The fare is 10 yuan, offered at a 50% discount during the trial period, with multiple payment options available. Children must purchase a full-price ticket.

This marks another innovative practice in Guangzhou's autonomous bus development. At the end of last year, the extension of the Guangzhou Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) autonomous bus route (Tianhe section) began trial operations. Since entering demonstration use in December 2023, Guangzhou has deployed 50 L4-level autonomous minibuses, providing services to 1.16 million passengers and covering 2.1 million kilometers. An intelligent dispatch system adjusts routes and departure intervals based on demand. Each vehicle is equipped with a multi-sensor fusion system and has an onboard safety operator, with zero accidents reported so far.

Calculations show that over a 10-year life cycle, the operating costs of autonomous buses are lower than those of conventional new energy buses, saving an average of 142,600 yuan per vehicle annually. Looking ahead, Guangzhou plans to further expand the application scenarios of autonomous driving in public transportation and continue refining the "Guangzhou model" for autonomous bus operations.

4月28日晚,自动驾驶小巴驶入广州中心城区东风路,4月29日19时,首条广州市中心城区主干道自动驾驶巴士线路——东风路“羊城智慧巴士文旅示范线”正式开通试运营,这也是首条以文旅为主题的示范应用线路。

当日18时30分,记者在杨箕地铁站D口看到“羊城智慧巴士梅东路总站”指示牌。梅东路总站已改造完毕,蓝色灯光彰显科技感。19时,涂装醒狮元素、可载6人的智慧小巴亮相。

线路全长13.6公里,全程约55分钟,运营时间为每日19 - 21时,约20分钟一班,投入4辆车。线路途经东风路三段,可接驳地铁1、2、5号线,串联中山纪念堂等多个景点。票价10元,试运营期五折,支持多种支付方式,儿童需购全票。

这是广州自动驾驶巴士的又一创新实践。去年年底,广州BRT自动驾驶线路延长线(天河段)已开通测试。自2023年12月进入示范应用,广州已投入50辆L4级自动驾驶小巴,服务116万人次,行驶210万公里。智能调度系统可按需调整路线与发车间隔,车辆配备多传感器融合系统,每车设安全员,运营至今零安全事故。

经测算,自动驾驶公交10年全生命周期运营成本低于常规新能源公交,每车年均节约14.26万元。未来,广州公交将持续拓展自动驾驶应用场景,深化公交自动驾驶运营“广州模式”。
