At noon on May 2nd, the Super Strawberry Music Festival 2025 at Dongguan kicked off with great enthusiasm at Humen Park. As a key cultural and tourism highlight during the May Day holiday, the three-day festival features three main stages and 54 performance slots. More than half the performers are newcomers, with musicians hailing from overseas and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Many attendees traveled from cities such as Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Foshan. Some opted for same-day return trips, while others planned overnight stays in Dongguan to enjoy the city. "The shuttle service is very thoughtful, and the seamless transitions are so convenient," said Shanshan, a fan from Shenzhen. "I got off the train at Humen railway station and hopped straight onto the shuttle bus to the venue. It was super easy."
To enhance the festival experience, Dongguan authorities set up benefit stations at key points, offering free hand fans, roast goose dining guides, and cultural tourism brochures. According to Yang Jia, Dongguan Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Deputy Director, the festival is expected to attract around 80,000 visitors, 80% of whom are from outside the city. In response, Dongguan collaborated with transportation and commerce departments to roll out 17,000 free parking spaces, distribute ride-hailing coupons totaling 500 million yuan, and launch citywide promotional campaigns to boost the visitor experience."
You can eat Dongguan roast goose right at the festival, and browsing the booths is quite fun too," said Xiaolan, another music fan. Beyond the music, attendees can savor local delicacies and explore creative vendor stalls. This year, a new themed zone titled "capital of art toys in China" drew large crowds. The area featured roast goose-inspired foods like crispy roast goose and roast goose pastries, alongside creative merchandise such as "Guan Xiao'e" plush toys, AI-themed geese, and color-changing goose looks.
The festival also connected with fans in Beijing through a real-time installation called "Xiaoyao Travel Portal," which streamed live audio and visuals between the two cities. Additionally, the organizers teamed up with local authorities to launch the "Green Dongguan Energy Exchange Initiative," encouraging attendees to recycle on-site waste in exchange for drink vouchers or cultural and creative pendants, promoting a greener, more sustainable festival culture.
