The three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday is the perfect time for a trip. We've prepared a travel guide for you to explore Hunan during the holiday.

Zhuzhou Art Museum

On May 31, the museum will launch a dragon boat-themed painting event. A special guest will be invited to "dot the dragon's eyes" to kick off the event. A total of 500 teenagers aged 6-16 will participate in the creation of a 300-meter-long scroll painting.

Yueyang

Yueyang Port Industrial Ruins Park

The Lakeside Music Festival, part of the 2025 Dongting Yuhuo Season, will take place by the Dongting Lake from May 30 to 31. This vibrant event will bring together talented musicians across genres, including folk, rock, and pop, delivering unforgettable performances. A special bazaar will set up onsite, offering one-stop experiences of authentic Yueyang cuisine and cultural and creative products.

Fenghuang Ancient Town

An intangible cultural heritage fair will be held from May 27 to 31, featuring exhibitions & hands-on experiences of intangible cultural heritage items, and sales exhibitions of ethnic specialty products, local agricultural goods, tourism products, as well as cultural and creative products. On May 31, a "duck-catching" event will be hosted. Those who catch the lucky ducks will be presented with exclusive prizes.

Changde

Taohuayuan Scenic Area

A variety of Duanwu Festival-themed activities will be held at the Taohuayuan Scenic Area from May 31 to June 1, allowing visitors to deeply engage with millennia-old customs. The activities include organizing a zongzi-wrapping challenge event, making mugwort bouquets & scented sachets, hosting a traditional sacrificial ceremony, washing hands with water that is infused with herbs like calamus and mugwort, and reciting Qu Yuan's masterpiece titled Li Sao (Encountering Sorrow).

Yaowan Ancient Street

From May 30 to June 2, visitors can participate in a zongzi-making contest to win prizes, experience traditional festival activities like touhu (an ancient Chinese game of throwing arrows into wine pitchers), enjoy a Chinese-style Hanfu costume parade, and interact with an internet influencer known as "roly-poly girl."
