A Changsha delegation led by Wu Guiying, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and secretary of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee visited Saudi Arabia from June 21 to 22. The visit aimed to fully implement President Xi Jinping's important statements on promoting the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and the important consensus reached by the heads of state of China and Saudi Arabia. The delegation sought to deepen economic and trade exchanges, industrial cooperation, cultural and people-to-people exchanges, and connectivity, contributing local efforts to the development of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Saudi Arabia.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Saudi Arabia. During the visit, Secretary Wu Guiying held talks with Sara Al-Sayed, Saudi deputy minister of investment, exchanging views and reaching consensus on further expanding practical cooperation in areas such as industrial investment, economic and trade collaboration, and cultural tourism. Both sides expressed their willingness to fully align the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative with Saudi Arabia's "Vision 2030," to promote industrial complementarity and two-way investment, to encourage enterprises from both sides to intensify market expansion efforts, and to advance the implementation of major project collaborations. These efforts aim to bring greater benefits to the people of both regions through mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.

The China (Changsha)-Saudi Key Enterprises Matchmaking Conference was held in Riyadh on June 22. In her speech, Secretary Wu Guiying stated that as the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Saudi Arabia continues to flourish, exchanges and cooperation between Changsha and Saudi Arabia are becoming increasingly close. She expressed her hope that both sides will take this matchmaking conference as an opportunity to further enhance cooperation consensus, expand areas of collaboration, and jointly embrace broader prospects for cooperation and a more promising future. Sara Al-Sayed, Saudi deputy minister of investment; Khalid Al-Homoud, executive vice chairman of the National Industrial Development Center of Saudi Arabia, and He Song, minister-counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Saudi Arabia, delivered speeches. Representatives from renowned enterprises of both China and Saudi Arabia exchanged views at the event. A series of signing ceremonies were held on-site, with projects covering fields such as construction machinery, new energy, intelligent driving, and biomedicine.

This year marks the first "China-Saudi Arabia Cultural Year." A Hunan culture-themed exhibition titled "One Character Makes You Fall in Love with China" was held in Riyadh. Secretary Wu Guiying and representatives from Saudi government institutions, associations, foundations, universities, and people from all walks of life visited the exhibition and experienced Chinese character art. Through colorful cultural activities, participants deepened exchanges and mutual learning between civilizations, further building a bridge of friendship characterized by "amity between the people."

Hunan enterprises' "going global" stratagy is a vital force in promoting high-level opening-up at the provincial and municipal levels. During her visit, Secretary Wu Guiying conducted on-site inspections of key projects undertaken by Hunan enterprises, including The Mukaab, a large-scale cube-shaped skyscraper in Riyadh, and attended a symposium with representatives of Hunan enterprises based in Saudi Arabia. Secretary Wu encouraged these enterprises to leverage their unique advantages in integrating international and domestic markets and resources, and to act as a bridge for investment and talent attraction. Secretary Wu also urged these enterprises to contribute their wisdom and strength to enhancing exchanges between China and Saudi Arabia, building the "three hubs," and developing Changsha into a global research and development center.

During the visit, the Changsha delegation also visited the Chinese Embassy in Saudi Arabia and held discussions with Chargé d'Affaires Ma Jian.
