China was a crucial, but often overlooked, partner of the Allied powers in the Pacific Theater of World War II.

Retired Senior Col. Zhou Bo, a senior fellow at the Center for International Security and Strategy at Tsinghua University in Beijing, said the military parade is part of "Chinese efforts to promote what is often neglected…that is China's contribution toward the war."
