Liu Guohong, administrator of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration (National Park Administration), highlighted China's significant achievements in land greening during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.

"With joint efforts across the whole society, China completed 549 million mu (about 36.6 million hectares) of land greening in the period, including 185 million mu of afforestation, which is equivalent to the size of Fujian Province. The newly added forest stock volume is comparable to that of the Daxing'anling," Liu noted. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, China organized and implemented major projects such as the "Three-North Shelterbelt Forest Program" and the "Ecosystem Restoration in China", continuously strengthening the nation's ecological security. The green coverage rate in built-up urban areas reached 43.32%, while that of villages reached 32.01%.

Liu cited two examples. The first was in terms of increasing income and employment. In 2024, the total output value of the forest and grass industry exceeded 10 trillion yuan, creating income and employment opportunities for over 60 million people. In AnjiCounty, Zhejiang Province, the bamboo industry generated an output value of 19.2 billion yuan, boosting the income of nearly 40,000 local bamboo farmers. In addition, the number of ecological forest rangers has remained stable at over 1.7 million nationwide, allowing people to find jobs right at their doorstep.The second was in terms of improving life quality. Forests serve as a vast "granary." China boasts an annual output of over 200 million tons of forest food, making it the third most importantagricultural product after grain and vegetables. For instance, camellia oleifera plantingalone covers 75 million mu, with an annual output of over 1 million tons. These resources have enriched the people's "rice bags," "vegetable baskets," and "oil tanks."

“目前我国森林覆盖率超过25%，为全球贡献了大约25%的新增绿化面积，成为世界上增绿最多、最快的国家。”2025年9月10日，国务院新闻办公室举行“高质量完成‘十四五’规划”系列主题新闻发布会，国家林草局（国家公园管理局）局长刘国洪在会上介绍了我国“十四五”期间国土绿化取得的重要成就。

“在全社会共同努力下，我们共完成了国土绿化面积5.49亿亩，其中造林面积1.85亿亩，相当于一个福建省，新增森林蓄积量相当于一个大兴安岭林区。”刘国洪表示，“十四五”期间我国组织实施了“三北”工程、“山水工程”等重大工程，持续筑牢国家生态安全屏障，全国城市建成区的绿化覆盖率达到43.32%，村庄的绿化覆盖率达到32.01%。

刘国洪举了两个例子，第一个例子是在增收就业方面，2024年全国林草产业总产值超过了10万亿元，带动了6000多万人就业增收，浙江安吉的竹子产业创造了192亿元的产值，带动了当地近4万竹农增收。另外，生态护林员队伍全国稳定在170多万名，在家门口就能实现就业。第二个例子是在改善生活品质方面，森林是巨大的“粮库”，我国森林食物年产量超过2亿吨，成为继粮食、蔬菜之后第三大重要农产品，仅油茶种植就达到7500万亩，茶油年产量超过了100万吨，这些丰富充实了老百姓的“米袋子”“菜篮子”和“油罐子”。
