Their faces are uniquely blue, and their mouths are large and pronounced. These monkeys are diurnal and arboreal, living in high-altitude forests year-round. They are highly social animals, living in groups structured around a single male with multiple females. Within their communities, golden monkeys look out for one another, forage together, and enjoy play and rest in each other's company. Young golden monkeys are full of curiosity and playfulness, cherished by their parents. However, when young males reach adulthood, they are expelled from their family groups by their fathers and must venture into the wild to live independently.

其实，金丝猴的毛发不一定都是金色，在中国，不同种类的金丝猴都有其独特的外观，比如，川金丝猴以其缕缕金丝似的柔软长毛而被冠以“金丝猴”的美名，而滇金丝猴的皮毛则以灰黑、白色为主，黔金丝猴则以其灰白或浅蓝的脸部和肩间的一块白色块斑而著称。

Contrary to their name, the fur of golden monkeys isn't always golden. In China, different species of golden monkeys exhibit distinct appearances. For instance, the Sichuan golden monkey is named for its soft, golden fur, while the Yunnan golden monkey features gray-black and white fur. Meanwhile, the Guizhou golden monkey is distinguished by its grayish-white or pale blue face and a distinctive white patch on its shoulders.
