On January 8th, the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) held the press conference of the BFA Annual Conference 2025. Secretary General Zhang Jun briefed the media on the BFA Annual Conference 2025 and took question from the floor on the prospect of Asia and China’s economy as well as the regional integration of the Asia-Pacific raised by journalist of China Media Group (CMG).

Zhang Jun stated that as is an international organization based in Asia and focus on economic development, the Boao Forum for Asia has closely followed the development of Asian economy. In short, the better China develops, the better Asia and the world will be.

Zhang Jun pointed out that for many years, Asia has always been the locomotive and engine of world economy as well as participant and contributor to economic globalization. Especially as the world's second-largest economy, China has contributed over 30% to the global economic growth for many years, which is more than the total contribution of the G7 countries. In July 2024, the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China had made strategic deployment on further deepening reform comprehensively to advance Chinese modernization. This is big for China and the world as well. Decision made by the plenary matters to the future of China, and the world as well, which would certainly generate positive effect on and opportunities for global and regional economy, regional economic integration and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, as well as global efforts in response to global challenges.

Zhang Jun expressed that the English abbreviation for Boao Forum for Asia is “BFA”, which can also be interpreted as "Better Future for Asia". Although Asia still confronts a series of external challenges, we believe that Asia with strategic confidence and autonomy, shall stay committed to openness and development as well as win-win cooperation. We are fully confident in the prospect of China and Asia’s development, and in building a better future together.
