During the New Year, people in Germany and other Western countries flocked to buy fireworks, especially those produced at Liuyang, China. Fireworks or firecrackers, made from pyrotechnic compositions, originated from burning bamboo stalks to ward off evil spirits. The invention of gunpowder in the Sui and Tang dynasties allowed for their development. Today, they are a staple at festivals, weddings, and celebrations, symbolizing hope and joy.

今年元旦期间，德国等欧美国家出现众人连夜抢购烟花的场景，产自中国浏阳的烟花在海外火出圈。烟花是以烟火药为原料配制成的工艺美术品，又称爆竹、鞭炮。最初人们以燃烧竹子达到爆炸的效果，来驱逐鬼怪或迎神，隋唐时期火药技术的发展为烟花的诞生奠定了基础。如今人们在传统节日、婚礼喜庆、各类庆典、庙会活动等场合几乎都会燃放烟花，绚烂的烟花象征着希望与喜悦。
