In 2024, Guangdong's industrial economy stands out with notable highlights. On January 20th, the Work Conference of the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangdong Province revealed that the province is expected to see its total industrial output value exceed 20 trillion yuan, with revenues from industrial enterprises above the designated size surpassing 19 trillion yuan. In 2024, both provincial and municipal efforts will jointly advance the construction of 456 key projects, exceeding the annual target by 120%. Investment in industrial technological upgrades has maintained double-digit growth for 24 consecutive months, while investment in industrial equipment updates has reached a 9-year high in growth.

In terms of policy support, efforts have been made to assist businesses through fiscal, tax, and financing measures. Over 190 billion yuan in new tax reductions were provided to 23,000 enterprises, while eight partner banks offered over 1 trillion yuan in new financing.

In terms of industrial development, Guangdong is focusing on both "new tracks" and "traditional industries." Nine manufacturing enterprises have entered the global top 500, and the number of specialized and sophisticated enterprises is growing steadily. Technological innovation has yielded substantial achievements, with multiple national-level innovation centers approved for establishment. Significant progress has been made in fields such as AI, while traditional industries are accelerating their efforts to improve quality and upgrade capabilities.

Looking ahead to 2025, Guangdong's industrial economy faces challenges such as intensifying competition in certain industries and weak investment. To address these issues, Guangdong plans to take action in multiple areas.

In terms of industrial investment, Guangdong plans to establish three project lists to drive project construction and implement the "Thousand Enterprises Increment" initiative. These measures are designed to foster new industries, such as embodied robotics, promote the growth of the biomedicine sector to establish it as a trillion-yuan industry cluster and foster the low-altitude economy. In the semiconductor and integrated circuit industries, the goal is to drive major projects toward full production and mass production and plan new projects.

Guangdong is focusing on upgrading traditional industries through the use of smart technology and green technologies. In terms of industrial innovation, the province aims to cultivate provincial-level enterprise technology centers and establish pilot testing and verification platforms. In terms of industry empowerment, the focus is on encouraging more than 10,000 industrial enterprises to undergo technological upgrades and digital transformation. Regarding financial support, specialized financing services will be promoted to assist companies in preparing for public listings. Besides, efforts will be made to optimize the business environment, including addressing overdue payments. Additionally, a new round of selecting high-quality enterprises will be initiated, with increased support for small businesses to grow into major industrial enterprises. These initiatives aim to elevate the industrial economy to new heights.
