The Miao, widely distributed in Hunan Province, are one of China's ethnic minorities, renowned for their splendid silver ornaments and unique songs and dances. They celebrate the first day of the Chinese calendar with special customs. At the break of dawn, they light firecrackers and bring in prepared firewood, a ritual known as "Opening the Wealth Door" representing the hope for a prosperous year ahead. Next, they vie for the first bucket of water to win good fortune and a smooth year. At daylight, people arrange tea offerings in ancestral halls for three consecutive mornings, serving glutinous rice cakes and traditional snacks as part of the offerings custom. These age-old but distinctive ceremonies indicate the Miao people's hope for a better life and their enduring legacy in terms of cultural and spiritual traditions.

苗族是中国的少数民族之一，在湖南省有广泛分布，并以华美的银饰和独特的歌舞艺术而著称。每逢初一，鸡鸣时分，苗族人便点燃炮竹，开启大门，将备好的捆柴迎入屋内，行“开财门”之礼，寓意来年财源滚滚。接下来他们还要外出“抢头水”，以求抢得头彩，迎来吉祥顺遂的一年。天亮后，族人们在家族祠堂内布茶祭祀，连续三个早晨摆上蒸熟的糍粑、印盒粑等祭品，此为“摆茶”习俗。这些古老而独特的仪式，反映了苗族人民对新年的美好期盼，以及对民族文化的悠久传承。
