Chicago Spire is a skyscraper project that was partially built in Chicago, United States. The building was designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and was developed by Gareth Kelleher of the Shelbourne Development Group. Daniel Statham Studio collaborated with Santiago Calatrava Architects and Billings Design Associates (BDA) to develop the facade of this skyscraper.

The building is 2, 000ft (610m) tall and consists of 150 floors of residential apartments with a total floor area of 278,700 sqm. A 2.4 degree-twist at each of the building's 150 stories from the one below it creates a total 360-degree rotation of a helical outer surface.

It is located on the junction of Lake Shore Drive and the Chicago River, which gives it a prime location both in its view and access to the city. On completion, it will be the tallest building in the United States and the tallest residential building in the world. From the thrilling top to the building are gorgeous views across Chicago, the state of Illinois and Lake Michigan.

The building has been described as a giant "drill bit" by the public. Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago Tribune, and others in the media have likened it to a "tall twisting tree" and a "blade of grass".

The design involved intense geometric rigour to the facade to enable the construction of the cladding system scheduled to commence in 2009. The Chicago Spire officially began construction with the foundation work in 2008. Unfortunately, due to the financial crisis that erupted in the United States that same year, the project was forced to halt, and the entire plan was abandoned the following year. Currently, only a massive pit intended for the foundation remains at the original site.
