The Greens senator produced the apparently headless, dead fish during question time in the Senate after directing a question at Labor's Jenny McAllister. "On the eve of an election, have you sold out your environmental credentials for a rotten, stinking extinction salmon?", Hanson-Young asked.
Criticising the bill during parliamentary question time, Hanson-Young accused the government of "gutting" environmental protections to support a "toxic, polluting salmon industry".
