Hello, my respected judges. Hi, my fellow teachers. How are you? I'm Zhu Xuming. It's really a great honor to be here and share my stories about reading and writing. My topic is “Reading makes me spiritually rich and writing makes my life poetic.”

As an English learner, I like studying the basic rules of language very much. Even though I've been learning English for many years, a lot of problems still trouble me. Lots of “whys” come to my mind every day. What is phonetics? Why do we say “I like” and “He likes” when it comes to the third person? Why should we use the simple form of a verb after a modal verb?

Usually, I need to look up a lot of books, websites or software, like Bean buns or Deep seek. When I get the answer, I write it down in a way that is as easy as possible. Then I publish it on my account — “Mr Zhu Teaches English” on Today’s Headline. At the end of the day, there are many English lovers who visit, like, comment on and share my articles. Some people say they're really inspired by my ideas. Hearing that, I feel a strong sense of fullfillment and achievement. Maybe this is what it means to help others and be happy about it.

In addition, I'm crazy about Luyao’s works. In my free time, I usually listen to the audio of “The Ordinary World” read by Li Yemo. I think it's like food for my spirit. I find that listening to audiobooks sometimes gives a better feeling than reading traditional books. After listening to the life stories of the people in the book, for example, Sun Shao'an and Sun Shaoping who always try hard to get a better life and never give up, it makes me think of my old father and his old yellow ox. Facing hard work, they didn't run away. Instead, they faced it bravely and quietly accepted the mess that life leave them. Without reading and experiencing life, I wouldn't know how to describe their hard living conditions.

When my brothers and sisters listened to the story, they were all very touched. They saw our father's entire life and the hard times he had suffered, which was really heart breaking to think about. It was just like when our headmaster Mr Li described his father and mother in the book “Soil and Mother”.

作为一名英语学习者，我热衷于探究语言的基本规则。尽管我学习英语已有多年，但依然常常被诸多问题困扰。脑海中每天都会冒出无数个“为什么”。什么是语音学？为什么第一人称说 “I like”，而第三人称却要说 “He likes” 呢？为什么情态动词后面要用动词原形？

通常，我需要查阅大量的书籍、网站，或者借助如豆包、deep seek这样的软件来寻找答案。每当找到答案，我就会用尽可能通俗易懂的方式记录下来，然后发布在我今日头条账号 “美老师讲英文” 上。一天下来，会有许多英语爱好者浏览、点赞、评论并分享我的文章。有人说，我的观点给了他们很大启发。听到这些，我内心充满了满足感和成就感。或许，这就是赠人玫瑰、手留余香的意义吧。

此外，我对路遥的作品情有独钟。闲暇时光，我常常听李野墨播讲的《平凡的世界》有声书，它就像我精神的食粮。有时候，我甚至觉得听有声书比读纸质书的感受还要好。书中孙少安、孙少平兄弟为了过上更好的生活，不懈奋斗、永不言弃的人生故事，让我不禁想起了我的老父亲和他那头老黄牛。面对繁重的劳作，他们没有逃避，而是勇敢地去抗争，并默默接受着生活丢给他的这个烂摊子。倘若没有阅读的积累和对生活的感悟，我很难用文字去描绘出他们艰难的生活处境。
