In the winter of 2024, Guangzhou, a city where history and modernity are intertwined, welcomed a unique international event – the 2024 Understanding China Conference (Guangzhou).

According to the official news from the China Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy (CIIDS), one of the conference organizers, this year's conference was held from December 2 to 4. With the theme of "Carry through the Reform to the End – Chinese Modernization and New Opportunities for World Development", the conference featured an opening keynote speech, six parallel seminars, two closed-door seminars, 14 thematic sessions, and a series of supporting activities. It gathered more than 600 guests from more than 40 countries and regions, and the number of participants and important foreign guests exceeded that of the previous years. The overseas influence of the Understanding China Conference continues to grow . World-renowned politicians, scholars, industry leaders, and representatives of international organizations held in-depth discussions on the global significance of China's further deepening reform to comprehensively advance China's modernization. They shared stories of China, stories of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, stories of Guangdong, and stories of Guangzhou.

Recently, the role of youth power in cultural Communication has become increasingly prominent. The conference held the fourth "China in the Eyes of the Young Generation – International Short Video Collection and Exhibition", which attracted enthusiastic responses from Chinese and foreign young people from more than 60 universities, collecting 1,578 high-quality works. The event also featured the "Xinjiang Tour · Entering Aksu" 2024 Short Video Creation and Communication Competition, in which more than 100 young creators from home and abroad went deep into the Aksu region to capture the natural scenery and unique cultural landscapes, and created many short videos rich in regional characteristics.
