Obviously, this comes from the character from Charles Dickens, a Christmas Carol.

显然,这来自查尔斯·狄更斯的角色,《圣诞颂歌》。

But nowadays, we use it as a noun to describe someone who is being really hateful about Christmas.

但如今,我们用它作为名词来形容那些对圣诞节非常讨厌的人。

So if someone says something negative about Christmas we might say to them "Hey, don't be a scrooge".

I know, it's ridiculous!

我知道,这很荒谬!

We don't need that W there, we could take it away.

我们不需要那个 W,我们可以把它去掉。

But it's there, and a "wreath" is that circular thing that we put on the front door at Christmas to decorate our door.

但它在那里,花环是我们在圣诞节挂在前门上的圆形装饰物。

Y 代表“Yule”。

The word "Yule" comes from Pagan Roots, I believe. It's got some North too.

我相信“Yule”这个词来自异教徒的根源。它也有一些北方的来源。

And it's kind of an archaic term for Christmas, so you'll hear it like this, you'll hear "Yule time".

它是一种古老的圣诞节术语,所以你会这样听到它,你会听到“Yule time”。

So the time of yule, the time of Christmas, you might hear "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Make the Yule time gay!" "Yuletide" is like the feeling of Christmas, the period of Christmas, like we said earlier we might have a "yule log".

所以 Yule 的时间——圣诞节的时间,你可能会听到“祝你有个快乐的小圣诞节。圣诞快乐!”“Yuletide”就像圣诞节的感觉,圣诞节的时期,就像我们之前说的,我们可能会听到“Yule log(圣诞节原木形大蛋糕)”。

而且几年前,在新冠疫情期间,我们经常使用 Zoom。

But before all this technology, Zoom was a verb to describe the way that Santa zoomed across the sky.

但在所有这些技术出现之前,Zoom 是一个动词,用来描述圣诞老人快速穿越天空的方式。

Santa moved quickly across the sky.

圣诞老人快速地穿越天空。

Santa never gave me any presents… So there we go A to Z Christmas vocabulary!

圣诞老人从来没有给我任何礼物……所以这就是从 A 到 Z 的圣诞词汇!

See you next time for the next day of Christmas, ta-ta!

我们在圣诞节的下一天再见!拜拜!
