Alright, to purchase number one is one of these Apple choppers.
So, you know how annoying it is to eat an apple?
Normally, you have to take the apple, you bite into it.
Like this method of eating an apple is fine, but eventually it's like you, you end up with like juice running down all your arm and it gets all sticky.
A better way of doing it is that you grab one of these, and then you take your apple, and what you do with it is you grab the apple chopper, and now with your Apple chopper, you like.
And now we have a perfectly chopped apple that we can then chuck into a plate.
And it becomes so much easier.
In sets.
To eat a little plate of chopped apple is a little snack and the even better thing about this is that you can then grab something like almond butter and you can ... and you can spoon the almond butter into your apple plate.
And now you have a very nice little snack: chopped apples with almond butter.
And since using the apple chopper, my apple consumption has increased about ten x.
And so it's fair to say that that is a purchase that has drastically improved my life.
Alright, so this is a magnetic mag-safe travel tripod for an iPhone.
This is by the brand Peak Design.
Peak design is great, but you can definitely get this sort of thing cheaper if you want some kind of third party knock off.
Peak Design
And the idea is that it's a magnetic thing.
It's very lightweight, easy enough to carry sticks to your phone and you can turn it into a little tripod, which is super, super handy if you want to take a photo of yourself or you and your wife or you and a group of friends and you don't want to deal with the awkwardness of trying to ask someone to like take the photo and you don't want to do the whole like Gen Z type kind of selfie.
It's also really good if you happen to be taking video calls and stuff because you can just literally stick the phone.
Take a video call with your headphones in.
And that's much nicer than trying to hold a phone up or like trying to prop it against a mug or anything like that.
Alright, so we're gonna head to the bathroom for the next one.
Already, so this is ...
A fantastic portable B day.
This is one of those things.
You fill it up with water, and then you then put the lid on.
And what you can do is that this then squirts.
And it can then squat into wherever you would like this to quote.
And these things are actually so good.
I have one in my backpack at all times.
We have one in literally every bathroom in the house.
It's really standard in, for example, Muslim countries: they have these built into the walls; in France, they have B days in a lot of different bathrooms.
But for some reason, in most western countries, they don't think to kind of put water to kind of clean the business end of stuff when we go to the bathroom.
Uh, the default is that you just wipe repeatedly with toilet paper, which I always find is a little bit grim.
And the reason I carry one of these in my backpack as well is that if I'm in a coworking space, for example, and I have to use the bathroom if I didn't have one of these, I'd be feeling kind of grim all day and feel like I need to take a shower.
But with one of these, I can feel very good and very clean and very nice and fresh and productive for the rest of the day.
Alright, next up, we have multi pronged USB-C cables, which are in practically every room in the house.
These are absolutely amazing.
You plug one end of it to a, USB-C, kind of plug type thing, and it gives you two USB connections for the price one.
I'm a USB-C maximalist.
Pretty much every device I have charges with USB-C, but even if you have one of these plugs that has like multiple USb-C inputs, it's still kind of annoying dealing with like loads and loads of cables.
And so something like this gives you two cables for the price of one.
And these are absolutely amazing.
And to attach to the USB-C cables, I also have multiple copies of this Anker Magnetic flip-standing iPhone battery pack.
And so this magnetically attaches to your iphone and then charges your iphone.
And it has this little flip kickstand type thing.
So if you want, you can use it as a mini stand thing if you're taking a Zoom call or something like that.
And my wife and I have various different types of other battery pack chargers lying around the house because as we all know, phone batteries kind of suck these days.
This one is from Belkin.
This is kind of nice because it actually has a USB-C, and a Lightning cable built in.
So USB-C charges most phones and some people still have an old iPhone, so the lightning cable is super handy for that.
This is the Nomad key: USB-C cable type thing.
So the idea is that basically a key chain, but it has this kind of magnetically attaching USB-C cable on it.
And so if you use one of these battery packs that don't have macsafe, you can just plug this in to one end.
You can plug your phone into the other end.
And now this charges nicely and seamlessly.
If, for example, you or a friend have forgotten to bring a USB-C cable with you.
And if you're enjoying this video so far, I would love to know what is one or two cheap purchases that have improved your life.
And I love it if you can leave it in a comment down below and we can have a look at that list.
And I would love to get some more recommendations for cheap stuff that I can add to my life.
Alright, next up, we have some real plants which we get from a local shop here in Hong Kong for somewhere between five and ten USD per plant.
And so we have these like plants littered all around the house.
And actually in preparation for filming this video, I realized I should just get way more of these.
And so I went to the shop, picked up a few of these plants.
These were all under ten USD and we are now going to add these into my little studio space to make it a little bit more vibe.
So we have this, which I believe is a devil's ivy or something like that.
And actually, we can stick this over here.
Maybe up there.
The red is a little bit jarring.
But I don't have space in my book.
Um, where do we want to put this?
Feel like I want it to be my not quite fit on this bookshelf.
Okay, let's try.
Let's put the book back.
Hashtag product placement.
Maybe this one.
Oh, maybe this can actually replace this Ikea fake plant that we've got over here.
Oh no.
Another product placement issue.
How does that look?
That's quite cute.
Where is the water going?
Over going in the bag and go for that?
Oh, shit, it's going on the rug.
Oh, no.
This one can go over here, for example.
Oh, that's quite cute.
Ya, why not?
This can go up here.
And we have one of these snake plants.
I have to take this to the kitchen, whoopsy.
And then maybe this snake plant can go over here.
Now, I've been a fan of fake plants in the studio for quite a while, but my wife has real plants in her YouTube studio.
And whenever I go in there, it just smells so nice and fresh.
And whenever I come into mine, it's like, you know, the rug is off gassing.
It smells kind of funky.
And so I'm hoping that by installing real plants in my studio as well, it'll become more of a vibrant, creative environment to work in.
And speaking of cheap purchases, another thing I'm very bullish on is spending a little bit of money on digital privacy, which is why I'm delighted to have DeleteMe sponsoring this video.
Now, as someone who creates content online, I have become increasingly concerned about how much of my personal information is available to the public and this sort of thing can create genuine risks, not just if you're a content creator, but if you are anyone in today's digital world.
And something many people don't realize is how data brokers operate in the background of our digital lives.
These companies collect information from various public sources and they create profiles that can often include personal details like your contact information, address history, and even your family connections; then these data brokers sell this data to businesses and individuals.
That's why we are partnering with DeleteMe.
DeleteMe is a hands free subscription service that removes your personal information from hundreds of data broker websites.
The process is pretty straightforward.
You submit your information to DeleteMe and then the privacy experts find where your data is being sold online and then they handle the removal process for you.
And then within about seven days, you'll get your first privacy report showing exactly what they found and removed.
Now, what I love about DeleteMe is their comprehensive approach.
They don't just remove your information once. They continuously monitor these sites and repeat the removal process as needed.
They show you exactly which sites had your data and what specific information was found from your address and phone number to details about your relatives and your property.
They also have a very cool DeleteMe dashboard that shows you how many hours it would take to do all of these different opt-outs manually.
And so with this dashboard, you can see that you save literally dozens of hours by using DeleteMe rather than trying to do the process manually yourself.
Very excitingly, DeleteMe is offering all of our lovely viewers twenty percent off all of their consumer plans.
When you go to joindeleteme.com/Ali20 and use the promo code Ali20 at checkout.
当你访问 joindeleteme.com/Ali20 并在结账时使用优惠码 Ali 20。
That's joindeleteme.com/Ali20 and using the code Ali twenty at checkout.
就是 joindeleteme.com/Ali20 并在结账时使用代码 Ali20。
Now obviouslyDeleteMe won't make you completely anonymous online or remove every trace of you from the internet.
No service can realistically do that, but they will significantly reduce your personal information on data broker sites where it's most commonly bought and sold.
So, thank you so much to DeleteMe for sponsoring this video, and let's get back to it.
Alrighty, so these are a kind of funky collaboration between Harry Potter and Moleskine.
And they have these really cool notebooks, which I have the whole set of.
These are the three notebooks I use mostly on a daily basis.
So use the Lumos one for like business and life for journaling, just general stuff.
I use the Expecto Patronum one for like product stuff that we're building, like our software and our courses.
And I use the Protego Maxima one to plan Youtube videos.
There's also this Accio 2025 planner, which admittedly, I don't use very much.
And then there's also this Wingardium Leviosa type notebook that I've completely filled because I was just using it for like random Youtube videos and sketches and things like that.
Now, obviously, you don't need Harry Potter specific edition notebooks to be able to do stuff that notebooks help you with.
But I find that if a notebook is nice to use.
It just makes me way more likely to actually use it.
And I've tried various different notebooks over the years.
Another favorite of mine is the Leuchtturm 1917 dot grid notebook series.
That's really good.
I use that for several years before this Harry Potter collab came out.
And there's all sorts of evidence that, like, you know, for example, for physical journaling, writing things down with pen and paper improves the connection between like the mind and the words that are coming out and improves creativity and things like that compared to simply typing things out.
Alright, this is a little cheap bin that I got off of Amazon and I have this in my studio and we have a similar one in the bedroom.
It's currently got some comb butchers and some almond butter in it lol.
But the reason this is a purchase that has improved my life is because like there's always random trash that builds up.
Like, let's say you have a box of tissues.
By the way, having a box of tissues in every room and on every desk is also really helpful because you don't want to actually, you know, you wanna, you know, if you need to ... this sort of thing.
But let's say you do that.
Like where does this go?
If you're like most people and you don't have a bin in your room, it's like, ah, okay.
And then it sort of piles up on the desk or like somewhere.
And then all in one go, the, the thing starts to get really, really messy.
But if, for example, you have a bin.
In every single room, it means you can just immediately as soon as you generate any trash from opening a parcel or like using a tissue or anything, it just goes straight in the bin.
And so, for example, this is a couple's desk set up in the living room.
And we have a box of tissues right here.
And we also have one of these mini bins.
And this is also like, you know, one of these small ass tiny desktop bins.
I think we either got it from Amazon or Taobao for like less than ten dollars.
And again, it's just just super helpful to have a place to chuck stuff.
All right, so this is a paper to do list and card system.
Now, there is a wonderful company called Augmonk that I absolutely love.
That makes something similar to this.
I mean, they may, I think they made the original one.
Ah, but that's very expensive.
It's not a cheap product, and I love it.
It's amazing.
It's like artisanally crafted.
Very luxury, but it's like a hundred dollars.
And on Amazon, you can now find cheap knocks of the same kind of thing for like ten dollars.
And so this is a cheap purchase that you can use to improve your life.
Um, the idea is that you have these cards, which are sort of like paper to do list type things.
You can write whatever you want.
And then you stick it in this little thing.
And so at the start of the day, for example, you make your to do list with whatever's written on there.
So for example, you can write your to Dos for the day or whatever.
This is from March earlier.
And then you can stick them on here.
And then you see them in front of you all day.
And then whenever you're done with something, you can, obviously, strike it off the to do list.
It goes back up on the thing and just kind of a nice way to put your to do list in front of you.
Keeping in front of mine.
Alrighty, so this is three M transport surgical tape.
And the idea behind this is that I use it most nights.
To tape my mouth shut.
This is the thing I first did back in 2021 because apparently there's good evidence that If you tape your mouth shut while you're asleep, it like encourages you to breathe through your nose.
And I am a chronic mouth breather.
And so since doing this somewhat regularly, I've actually begun to breathe more through my nose.
And apparently there's all sorts of evidence that says, why breathing for your nose is way better than breathing through your mouth.
And there is a book called Breath, I think, by James Nestor, that kind of exposes on this like massively.
But yeah, really super cheap, super easy way to hack your sleep and improve things a little bit, apparently.
All right.
好的。
This is a set of blue light blocking glasses.
You can get these very cheaply in a lot of places online.
And the evidence for them is slightly dubious in terms of scientific studies.
But I know a lot of people anecdotally who've got a lot of value from blue, blue light blocking glasses is a sort of like orange tinted, which means that they literally block all blue light, especially at night.
And so when it hits around nine p M, me and my wife will put on our blue light blocking glasses.
And even if it does nothing else, it serves as a bit of a placebo to be like, okay, we're seriously, you know, we're trying to optimize sleep.
We're trying to get ready for bed.
But I personally think it does.
It means if I'm using a screen or something, I can't see much of the blue light.
And in theory, these improve your sleep at night time.
All right. This is the most basic Kindle that Amazon sells.
And it's in my list of cheap purchases because, and it's probably the most expensive thing on here.
But you can get the basic ass Kindles super, super cheap these days.
If the fifty dollars is still too expensive, you can get one of these second hand and Kindle is one of the tech products that has most drastically changed my life.
I've been reading every day on a Kindle since about 2008, so it's been about 17 years.
And thanks to the Kindle, I've managed to read like hundreds of more books than I would have done otherwise if I had to carry physical paperbacks around.
And so this is the thing that I always have on my bedside table.
And I use it to read before bed, which is a nice way to wind down.
All right. This is a set of conversation cards.
This is the confessions game, which is created by the School of Life.
And the idea is that it is a series of cards in different categories.
You've got career.
You've got family.
You've got relationships.
You've got money.
And you've got sex, which is optional.
You can play with or without these, depending on how you feel.
And there's a little dice here that you roll.
So whichever category comes up, the idea is that, you know, you're playing this game in a group of friends and you turn over the card.
And it asks like a deep, meaningful question, Like, you know, what do you wish you could ideally tell your father?
Interesting.
Let's look at relationships.
What do you wish your partner could change about themselves?
Let's look at career.
If left alone in a hotel room on a work trip, What's the most disgusting or surprising thing you might do?
Interesting?
And we've got money.
What was your most foolish financial decision that haunts you in the small hours of the night?
And so the idea is that this and other kind of conversation card type games is that it's a, it's a fun way to kind of get to know people better.
Obviously, it has to be the right group, has to be the right vibe, to be the right kind of crowd.
And depending on the group and depending on the situation, you might want versions of this sort of thing that are more P, G or less P G, But I find that these sorts of games, these sorts of conversationally card games are a very cheap way of improving your life because they deepen the friendships and relationships that you have with the people that matter most to you.
Alright, next up is the Aero press coffee maker.
This is the best way to make coffee.
It's also super cheap.
You can get the premium version, which is one I have, which is a little bit more expensive, but the basic plastic version does the job just as well.
And this is my favorite go to method for making coffee in the mornings.
Alright, this is a very cheap yoga mat that I bought from a random shop here in Hong Kong and we usually have two yoga mats out in the living room at all times.
And the nice thing about this is that if I feel like watching TV or like playing the PlayStation or something, the yoga mat is just out.
And so I may as well do some stretches while doing so or try and, you know, improve my hamstring flexibility or things like this or even just like sit cross legged, which encourages hip mobility.
While, for example, playing PlayStation, Sometimes I'll just sort of walk around the house, brushing my teeth, I'll notice the yoga mat and be like, oh, okay, I may as well do some sort of like squat or like some kind of mobility thing.
Cause, you know, hips are always really tight, like the hamstrings are really tight and stuff and just having a yoga mat to nudge me to words, actually doing a little bit of stretching and mobility exercises throughout the day.
In random moments, I find that super helpful.
Alright, this is a cheap little massage ball.
And these, this thing is absolutely incredible.
So when paired with a yoga mat or a soft floor, this can just go in and like can hit any of the, you know, the hip flexors or the biceps.
So anywhere you've got a little bit of tightness, a little bit of pain, it can put this massage ball, and I, and it serves as a sort of phone roller, but like a harder and smaller and more targeted.
And so this is really, really good for working out those muscle knots that appear If you sit at a desk all day, like I do or if you do a lot of exercise.
And a bonus cheap purchase that has improved my life is an app.
This is an app called Voice Pal that my team and I have been building over the last twelve months or so.
We have thousands of viewers from all around the world.
And the idea behind Voice Pal is that it is a ghost writer in your pocket, which makes writing way more fun.
Voice Pal
So if you have to write anything, whether it's part of your job of part of your side project or your business or whatever, instead of sitting at a computer and typing in a blank screen, instead you done on Voice Pal, you hit record, you speak out whatever you wanna say, the app, understand everything you've said, and it will ask, you follow up questions based on what you've said.
And then whatever you are ready, you can just export and draft and you can export into Notion or into Google Docs or into Claude or ChatGPT or whatever you want.
Uh, at the time and recording this so far, I've written two hundred and three thousand words using Voicepal and saved two days and fourteen hour of my life.
Compared to if I were typing instead, that's 62 hours of my life saved with a very cheap app.
So if you're interested in checking a VoicePal, there will be a link down below.
And if you enjoyed this video, thank you very much for watching.
