A freight train loaded with 108 TEUs of baking soda, refrigerators, and other goods pulled out of the Hengyang South Railway Station on the morning of May 10. After arriving at the Nansha Port South Railway Station, these goods will be transshipped for sea delivery to international ports respectively, including Bangkok in Thailand, Manila in the Philippines, and Rotterdam in the Netherlands.

This freight train marks the official launch of the point-to-point freight service between Hengyang South Railway Station and Nansha Port South Railway Station, which will further advance the high-quality development of Hunan-Guangdong-Africa rail-sea intermodal transportation.

With Zhuzhou as the assembly center and the departure station while Hengyang and Chenzhou as sub-centers, the Hunan-Guangdong-Africa rail-sea intermodal transportation corridor connects Hunan with Africa through Guangzhou, building a high-efficiency, stable, and cost-effective logistics channel for Hunan Province to gain access to the international market.

The baking soda delivered this time is a crucial chemical raw material in high demand in the international market, particularly in the environmental protection industries acoss Southeast Asia and Europe. Refrigerators produced in Yueyang are transported to Hengyang by rail before being transshipped at Nansha Port via the point-to-point freight train service. Compared to previous road-to-port transport, this approach effectively ensures transport efficiency and cargo safety, cutting the cost and raising the efficiency across the entire course.

This approach, transporting goods from Hengyang South Railway Station to Nansha Port South Railway Station directly, can shorten the transport time from previous 3-4 days to just 18 hours. This represents an efficiency improvement of over 60% compared to traditional approach.
