Amid the mists of the Qin and Han dynasties, rows of eaves tiles hung beneath palace rooftops, engraving the code of civilization within a confined space. In Chinese architecture, eaves tiles are among the most expressive elements. They are not only practical components protecting the wooden rafters but also aesthetic symbols of the philosophy that "the Way lies even in tiles and bricks".

瓦当之韵，在形更在意。四神瓦当以青龙、白虎、朱雀、玄武镇守四方，暗合天地秩序；一块“尧舜禹汤”瓦当，将儒家治国理想凝于四字，庄重如印。

The charm of eaves tiles lies not only in their form but also in their meaning. Tiles bearing the Four Symbols: Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, and Black Tortoise. They stand guard over the four cardinal directions, aligning with the cosmic order. One tile inscribed with "Yao, Shun, Yu, Tang" encapsulates Confucian ideals of governance in just four characters, solemn as a seal.

千年后，瓦当褪去宫殿的华彩，却以拓片之姿唤醒今人对“天圆地方”的想象——它是屋檐的诗行，亦是时间的信物，让砖瓦间的历史心跳，至今铿锵。

Over a thousand years later, eaves tiles have faded from the grandeur of palaces, yet their impressions, preserved in rubbings, continue to evoke the ancient Chinese worldview of "a round heaven and square earth". They are verses beneath the eaves and tokens of time, allowing the heartbeat of history to echo through tiles and bricks to this day.
