Abstract
In this talk, Prof. Kartik will share reflections on how early-career economists can navigate the challenges of academic publishing and broader professional development. Drawing on his extensive experience as a researcher, mentor, and an editor at leading economics journals, he will offer candid advice and insights on building a successful academic career. Topics of discussion may include questions of research strategy, coauthorship, journal targeting, the role of rejection and revision, and how to think about an academic career more broadly. The talk will be especially geared toward PhD students and junior scholars pursuing an academic career in economics, but anyone interested is warmly welcome.
