印章的材料,古代最多见的为铜质,也有用金、银、铁、铅、玉、水晶、陶泥。明清篆刻家印材多为叶蜡石,其中著名的有青田石中的各种冻石,寿山石中的田黄、田白,昌化石中的鸡血石等。
