Recently, the nine-valent human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, jointly developed by Xiamen University and Xiamen Innovax over 18 years, has received market approval. This marks China’s first domestically produced nine-valent HPV vaccine and the world’s second. For two decades, Xiamen has prioritized the biopharmaceutical industry, evolving its support framework from basic "factor guarantees" like land provision and tax incentives to establishing a multi-tiered provincial-municipal-district "parallel acceleration" service mechanism, significantly shortening innovation commercialization cycles. After 20+ years of dedicated cultivation, Xiamen now hosts over 1,600 biopharmaceutical and health enterprises, achieving prolific R&D outcomes with an average annual output growth of 20%. The Xiamen Biopharmaceutical Port in Haicang, ranked 13th nationally in competitiveness, has emerged as a pivotal force in China’s biopharmaceutical landscape.

On June 1, the launch ceremony of "Xiamen Theme Day" was held at the China Pavilion of Expo 2025 Osaka—Xiamen’s first overseas World Expo city-themed event. A series of distinctive activities, including ecological achievement exhibitions, curated cultural showcases, Japan-China friendship exchanges, and economic-tourism matchmaking, presented Xiamen’s exemplary ecological advancement to global audiences while deepening cultural, tourism, and economic collaboration with Japan. Preceding this, the Xiamen-Japan Economic, Cultural, and Tourism Exchange Conference convened in Osaka on May 31, attracting over 100 delegates from Xiamen’s government, Japanese sister cities, economic organizations, and enterprises. The conference featured economic and tourism promotions, business matchmaking, and onsite signings, including three projects such as the collaboration between BSL Corporation and Xiamen’s Jimei District to establish a "Smart Energy Solutions R&D and Production Base."

Following successful hosting of events like the Sudirman Cup and Diamond League, Xiamen will welcome two premier competitions: the 27th Asian Athletics Championships and the 2025 China Table Tennis Club Super League. The 27th Asian Athletics Championships—Asia’s premier track and field event held biennially since 1973, typically in odd-numbered years—will take place at Xiamen Egret Stadium in 2027. Additionally, the second stage of the 2025 Table Tennis Super League commences in July at Xiamen Fenghuang Gymnasium, marking the league’s second visit to the city.

继苏迪曼杯、钻石联赛等国际大赛成功举办后，厦门再迎两项重量级体育盛典——第27届亚洲田径锦标赛和2025赛季中国乒乓球俱乐部超级联赛。第27届亚洲田径锦标赛将于2027年在厦门白鹭体育场举行。亚洲田径锦标赛于1973年创办，是亚洲最高水平的田径赛事，每两年举办一次，通常在奇数年举行。此外，2025赛季中国乒乓球俱乐部超级联赛第二阶段的比赛将于7月在厦门凤凰体育馆举行，这也是乒超联赛历史上第二次走进厦门。

On June 4, the Songyu Operation Zone of Xiamen Port simultaneously berthed two ultra-large container vessels: the 16,000-TEU MSC LORENZA (150,000 DWT) and 19,000-TEU MSC SVEVA (200,000 DWT), delivering approximately 13,500 TEUs of cargo. Located in Haicang, the Songyu Operation Zone of Xiamen Port serves as a critical deep-water container terminal complex, encompassing Songyu and Haitong Terminals. It primarily handles international trunk line shipping, container transshipment, and regional logistics hub functions. Benefiting from its adjacency to main shipping channels, superior water depth, and expansive shoreline, the zone is capable of simultaneously accommodating three ultra-large container vessels exceeding 200,000 DWT.

6月4日，厦门港嵩屿作业区迎来两艘超大型集装箱船舶同时靠岸作业。“地中海洛伦扎’‘地中海斯韦娃’两船分别为15万吨级、20万吨级，最大载箱量约为1.6万标箱和1.9万标箱。本次到访厦门将带来约1.35万标箱的货物吞吐量。位于海沧的厦门港嵩屿作业区是厦门市重要深水集装箱码头区，包括嵩屿、海通两座码头，主要承担国际班轮干线航运、集装箱中转及区域物流枢纽功能。其区位毗邻海运主航道，水深条件优越、岸线宽阔，可同时服务三艘20万吨级以上超大型集装箱船舶。
