“Having you swing by to check the school’s electrical gear before classes start? That puts our minds at ease—and parents too!” On August 27, staff from State Grid Changzhou Power Supply Company dropped by Liyang Experimental Primary School for pre-semester electrical safety checks. School staff were quick to praise the thoughtful power service from the supply team.

As summer break winds down, the back-to-school season kicks off right on time. Over the vacation, most of the school’s electrical equipment sits idle with no power load. Add to that summer’s high heat and humidity, pest damage, and natural wear on wiring—all of which can leave hidden electrical risks on campus.

For years, State Grid Changzhou Power Supply Company has been proactive in its services: it’s stepped up communication and cooperation with schools, and put together dedicated service teams to run pre-semester electrical “check-ups” at primary schools, middle schools, and kindergartens across its service area. At inspection sites, team members used tools like thermometers, binoculars, and drones to focus on two key areas: on one hand, power supply facilities around schools—such as power lines and transformers—were inspected closely; on the other, on-site checks were carried out for electrical equipment inside schools, including in power distribution rooms, teaching buildings, dormitories, and canteens. All this was done to make sure teachers and students have safe, reliable power for the new semester.

During the checks, the team also brought along different promotional materials—like safety brochures and electrical safety booklets. They walked school staff through electrical safety do’s and don’ts, asked about the schools’ power needs for the new semester, sought their thoughts and suggestions on electricity use, and guided the schools to work out power plans and safety measures for the term ahead.

Next, while continuing to keep up with regular daily power support for schools, State Grid Changzhou Power Supply Company will roll out activities like “electrical safety knowledge campaigns on campus” to vigorously popularize and spread electrical safety tips. This will further boost teachers’ and students’ awareness of safe power use—making sure “full-power” backs the back-to-school season all the way!(By Xu Yuyang)
