VLADIVOSTOK, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- The Russian Far Eastern city of Vladivostok, hosting the Golden Turtle International Wildlife Festival from Friday to Sept. 14, offers visitors a two-week journey into the beauty and fragility of nature.
The festival, regarded as one of the largest environmental and educational projects in the world, takes place at the Ocean cinema in Vladivostok with free admission.
An exhibition features 100 winning works of photographers from Russia, China, India, Hungary, Italy, Spain and other countries, selected from the festival's photo competitions.
Festival President Andrei Sukhinin said this year's program highlights the unique biodiversity of the Russian Far East, including marine life, the Amur tiger and the Far Eastern leopard. "Every day of the project offers a chance to admire and reflect on the preservation of our priceless natural heritage," he said.
The festival program includes interactive lectures by biologists and zoologists, screenings of nature documentaries, workshops, and live talks with renowned wildlife photographers.
A special inclusive project titled White Book will present tactile copies of wildlife photographs and tailored educational programs for visually impaired visitors.
