Guangzhou is set to host the largest-ever business conference next week, which also marks its first-ever holding on the Chinese mainland, said Chen Xiaofeng, President of the China Council for the Promotion of international Trade (CCPIT) Guangdong Committee at a press conference on Tuesday.

The 3rd Business Conference on Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Development will be held in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province, from September 15 to 16.

Themed "Empowering the GBA, Expanding Opportunities Together," the 3rd Business Conference is co-hosted by the People's Government of Guangdong Province as the lead sponsor and the CCPIT Guangdong Committee as the lead organizer. The conference plans to invite approximately 1,200 participants, including government officials, international business associations, international bay area organizations and think tanks, and industry leaders, with attendance exceeding previous sessions.

Chen stated that in recent years, CCPIT Guangdong Committee has pioneered the establishment of Roundtable of the Business Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, collaborated with industrial and commercial sectors in Hong Kong and Macao to explore domestic and international markets, enhanced services for foreign-invested enterprises, and actively promoted the Greater Bay Area in overseas markets.

To date, Guangdong has attracted over 260,000 enterprises from the Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR. In 2024, the import and export volume between the nine mainland cities of the GBA and the two SARs exceeded 1 trillion yuan. Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao collectively prodcue 70% of global consumer drones, 40% of smartphones, one-quarter of China's new energy vehicles, and one-fifth of integrated circuits, according to the CCPIT Guangdong Committee.
