The 24th China Shanghai International Arts Festival will be held from October 17th to November 27th this year. The festival is expected to feature over 500 performances, exhibitions, and related events, totaling more than 1,200 sessions. This includes 55 outstanding performances with 129 shows. Nearly 60% of the programs are from overseas, and over 90% of these programs will be making their Shanghai premiere. Among these, 11 overseas programs will be staged exclusively in Shanghai.
As the guest province of honor for this year's arts festival, Guangdong province, in collaboration with the organizing committee, will launch the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Cultural Week in Shanghai on October 18th. The event will showcase selected stage productions, century-old fine art classics, living intangible cultural heritage projects, and high-quality cultural products. These will be presented through a total of 7 outstanding performances with 14 shows, a major exhibition of the Lingnan School of Painting, intangible cultural heritage displays, and art education activities during the Culture Week.
"During the Culture Week, seven original stage productions from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao will be featured at this year's Shanghai International Arts Festival, covering various art forms such as dance drama, Cantonese opera, ballet, acrobatic drama, modern drama, and multimedia puppet theater," said Tang Guohua, a second-level inspector at the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province. He mentioned that productions from Guangdong, like the dance drama "Odes to Heroes" by the Guangzhou Song and Dance Theater, use innovative dance language to reinterpret the Chaoshan Yingge dance, revitalizing traditional folk customs on the modern stage.
One of the core activities of the Culture Week, "Reform Mission: Guangdong Art Centennial Exhibition," will be held at the China Art Museum in Shanghai Expo Park. "In terms of the variety and scale of works, this exhibition is arguably the largest of its kind for Guangdong art to date," said Wang Shaoqiang, director of the Guangdong Museum of Art. He explained that the exhibition will bring together over 700 representative works (sets) by more than 350 renowned Lingnan School painters from modern to contemporary times, covering fields such as Chinese painting, oil painting, engraving, sculpture, watercolor, installation art, and art technology, with many highlights.

“文化周期间，将有七台来自粤港澳三地的原创舞台剧目亮相本届上海国际艺术节，涵盖舞剧、粤剧、芭蕾舞剧、杂技剧、话剧、多媒体偶剧等多个艺术类型。”广东省文化和旅游厅二级巡视员唐国华介绍，广东出品的剧目如广州歌舞剧院的舞剧《英歌》，以创新舞蹈语言重塑潮汕英歌文化，让传统民俗在现代舞台上焕发新生。
文化周核心活动之一“其命惟新——广东美术百年大展”，将在上海世博园中华艺术宫举办。“本次展览从作品品类、规模来看，当属迄今广东美术展览之最。”广东美术馆馆长王绍强介绍，展览将汇集350多位从近现代到当代的岭南美术名家代表作品，共700多件（套），涵盖中国画、油画、版画、雕塑、水彩画、装置及美术科技等领域，亮点纷呈。
