“Line disconnect switches and equipment clamps show normal temperature readings. The transformer oil temperature and pressure are also normal. No abnormalities detected.” This was the report on December 19th as State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company maintenance personnel conducted inspections and temperature checks at the 220 kV Dengzhou substation, proactively addressing potential safety hazards and ensuring the safe and stable operation of the power grid.

With temperatures steadily dropping, State Grid Nanyang is taking multiple steps to prepare for the peak electricity demand in winter. The company is enhancing power generation capacity and optimizing equipment maintenance to guarantee a reliable power supply throughout the winter season. Responsibilities have been clearly assigned at all levels, and preventative measures have been refined and detailed in advance. Based on winter grid operating characteristics and projected load changes, the company is dynamically adjusting grid operations to ensure reliable power delivery, especially during inclement weather, so that residents can stay warm throughout the winter.

State Grid Nanyang is continuously intensifying the status of transmission lines and distribution equipment, using advanced tools and technologies, including drones, infrared thermometers, and laser scanners, for detailed inspections of critical transmission lines and substation equipment. Any identified issues are addressed immediately, with a closed-loop process ensuring complete resolution. Distribution grid maintenance measures are also in place, including activating heating and dehumidification equipment for outdoor installations to prevent moisture-related issues and ensure the proper functioning of anti-moisture, dehumidification, and anti-condensation systems to avert equipment failures due to rain, snow, or freezing conditions. Using a collaborative “area manager + maintenance personnel” model, the company is conducting site visits to schools, industrial parks, and heating companies to analyze load characteristics, understand customer needs, and gather feedback, issuing time-bound rectification notices for any identified electrical safety issues at heating enterprises, and providing comprehensive technical support to ensure customers experience no power worries during the heating season.

Moving forward, State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company will continue to monitor grid operations closely based on load and temperature fluctuations. They plan to increase the frequency of line inspections and intensify hazard detection efforts to enhance grid reliability and safety further, ensuring residents stay warm and comfortable throughout the winter.
