In 2024, Guangdong province completed the optimization and improvement of 2.1591 million mu of forest stands and the nurturing and enhancement of 2.0744 million mu of forest. As a result, forests have gradually become an important backdrop to the beautiful landscapes of southern Guangdong.

Since the beginning of 2024, Guangdong has utilized new technologies such as drones and remote sensing satellites to carry out large-scale, contiguous afforestation, creating 208 forest patches of over 1,000 mu, 334 patches ranging from 500 to 1,000 mu, and 390 patches between 300 and 500 mu. Additionally, 242,400 mu of pure pine forests affected by pine wilt diseaseand 179,400 mu of pure eucalyptus forests have been rehabilitated. The proportion of mixed forests has steadily increased, and the management of forest resources continues to improve.

Guangdong has adhered to a balanced approach of afforestation on mountains, forest nurturing, and closing mountains for forest restoration. In total, 1.6061 million mu of new forests were planted and nurtured, and 2.0744 million mu of existing forests were improved, which have effectively driven the growth of forest resources, enhanced ecological efficiency, and enriched the landscape. In terms of seedling selection, the province has vigorously promoted the planting of native and valuable tree species. A total of 81.59 million native trees were planted, including over 28.5 million valuable species.
