为什么在这里可以用yet,而不能用but呢?因为but 是并列连词,而yet却是个副词。副词 yet 与从属连词 though 并用,可产生关联关系。除yet 之外,在含有让步状语从句的主句中还可以使用 nevertheless, still 等副词:

Although ( Though )admission was free , nevertheless few people attended the lecture.

管免费入场,但听演讲的人却不多。

Although he was ill, yet/still/nevertheless he managed to look careful.

虽然他病了,但他尽力显出很注意的样子。

Although I poured it carefully, I still managed to spill some.

尽管我倒这东西很小心，还是洒了一些。

Although an agreement has been reached, rumbles of resentment can still be heard.

Although/though/while……yet/still/nevertheless

在“正式的关联词语(指tough/although...yet/still/nevertheless等等)不仅能使文体优雅,而且还能使句子的前后关系明确(当两个相关联的部分长而复杂的时候,尤其如此)。”如：

Although he is considered a great writer , （still）his works are not widely read.

虽然他被认为是一位伟大的作家，但他的作品并没有被广泛阅读。（高考真题）

当然，Although/though/while也是可以直接表示让步关系的：

Although DDT was first produced in 1874, it was not widely used until the second quarter of this century.

尽管滴滴涕于1874年首次生产，但直到本世纪中叶结束才被广泛使用。

Although the sun was shining it wasn't very warm.

尽管太阳高照，却不很暖和。

Although small, the kitchen is well designed.

厨房虽小，但设计巧妙。

Although he is known to only a few, his reputation among them is very great.
