The Changsha Customs data showed that, Hunan's total import and export value in the first two months this year hit 78.24 billion CNY, among which exports increased by 10.2% to 48.43 billion CNY and imports amounted to 29.81 billion CNY.

During this period, Changsha's imports and exports grew 14.3% to 43.06 billion CNY, accounting for 55% of the provincial total. Exports from Changsha surged 38.8% to 29.28 billion CNY, constituting 60.5% of the province's total exports. Private enterprises have made stable export performances since the second half of last year. In the first two months in 2025, the import and export volume of these enterprises reached 60.07 billion CNY, taking up 76.8% of the total foreign trade of the province. Their exports grew 8.7% to 40.08 billion CNY. Meanwhile, imports and exports of state-owned enterprises amounted to 9.95 billion CNY, while that of foreign-invested enterprises hit 8.07 billion CNY.

Notable growth was seen in trade with ASEAN and African countries. In January and February, Hunan's import and export trade with ASEAN and African countries reached 14.09 billion CNY and 8.07 billion CNY respectively, rising 5.6% and 8.4% year on year. Exports to these regions soared 41.1% and 60.7% respectively. Hong Kong SAR, the United States, and South Korea remained the top three trading partners, with trade volumes standing at 6.36 billion CNY, 5.59 billion CNY, and 4.34 billion CNY respectively.

steel, mechanical and electrical products, and the "new three" products—lithium-ion batteries, photovoltaic products, and electric vehicles—were the majority of exports. Among them, exports of mechanical and electrical products grew 9.8% to 26.06 billion CNY; and, those of storage batteries and automobiles were 1.11 billion CNY and 3.73 billion CNY respectively, up 108.8% and 24.7%. Rolled steel exports skyrocketed 160.3% to 5.25 billion CNY, contributing 7.4 percentage points to the overall growth in exports. Construction machinery and the "new three" products achieved exports of 5.07 billion CNY and 1.8 billion CNY, surging 27.6% and 115.1% respectively.
