英语中，neither, either和both是所有英语试题中可能要考查的词汇。一般出现在语法单选题，完形填空和语法填空中。要搞清楚它们之间的区别，首先得知道它们的词性，它们是代词，或者是形容词，因此后面可以接名词，也可以不接。今天学的这三个词，都是与数字2有关，如果不是两个，那就不能用它们。因此，在考试中一定要注意表达两个的词汇。我举的例子，就像试题一样，一般是经过深思熟虑的，因为要保证唯一答案，而不是模棱两可。
一，both指两个中的两个，接名词复数形式。注意每个句子的语境词。根据语境词，本句只能用both，不能用其它的。
I have two brothers, and they're both engineers.我有两个弟弟，他们俩都是工程师。two，and是语境词。The twins both like playing basketball.双胞胎都喜欢打篮球。twins是语境词。My eyes are both covered with black cloth.我的双眼被蒙上黑布。my eyes是语境词。Both of my socks are uncomfortable to wear.我的两只袜子穿起来不舒服。my socks是语境词。There are many flowers on both sides of the street.街道两边都有花。street, sides是语境词，街道只有两边。二，neither指两个中一个也没有。either指两者中任何一个，它们都接单数。
I have two pens, but neither of them is good to write with.我有两支钢笔，但是一支也不好写。根据but判断，只能用neither。Must I come on Monday or Tuesday? 我是星期一来，还是星期二来？ Either will do. I am at home every day.哪天都行。我每天都在家。根据at home every day判断，只能用either.Either of my ears is good.我的耳朵都很灵。根据ears判断，是2，根据is判断，是单数。My brother bought two jackets on line, but neither of them was suitable for him. So he returned the item the next day.我弟弟在网上买了两件夹克，但是一件都不适合他穿。所以他第二天就退货了。根据two, but 判断，用neither。There are a lot of flowers on either side of the street. We took photos there. 街道两边有很多花。我们在那拍了很多照片。最后一句是语境句，再根据street 判断，只能是2，根据side是单数形式，用either。Must I come on Saturday or Sunday?
