The World Resources Institute (USA) Beijing Representative Office is looking for one highly self-motivated student to be an intern at the Research, Data & Impact (RDI) team.

You will report to RDI Director of WRI China. As an RDI intern, you will support activities related to RDI across WRI China’s programs, assist in the development and revision of scientific publications, and support capacity-building activities in research and knowledge management. The intern is required to work for at least three days a week and the term is at least three months, ideally 6 months or even longer. The internship requires to be onsite.

About RDI and Research Integrity (RI)

RDI fosters a culture of research excellence and ensures high quality research across WRI. The Research Integrity sits within RDI. It provides guidance and mentoring to staff and oversees the peer review process for research products, which include both traditional documents and interactive applications. We measure the success of publications in terms of the quality of research and its ability to drive change in the world in ways that support our mission. Within this role you could learn from the processes of peer-review, research standards of excellence, research ethics, research skills learning and development of WRI. You will also be able to get access to WRI library resources.

Responsibilities

Support RDI activities, including RDI office hours, Focus Group meetings, Brownbag meetings, seminars and workshops, research skill training, Research Cafes, and other coordinating meetings, etc. This includes calendar management, administrative coordination, and making simple PPT based on what is provided by the manager.

Assist in the literature search and literature review plan to the development of research projects and scientific publications at WRI China. Assist the researchers to use WRI library services and the literature management apps, like Zotero.

Support internal communication and engagement with various WRI China programs to promote better understanding of the Standards of Excellence of WRI research. The Standards of Excellence of WRI include credibility, value added, fit-for-audience, well written, and institutional coherence.

Support cross office communication of RI per request and attend the RDI monthly meeting of WRI China, monthly RI international meetings and RDI all staff meetings.

Enrolled graduate student toward a degree. Have evidenced experiences conducting Literature Search and Review. Preferred haven taken course on formal logic, research integrity and research ethics.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Zotero or other literature management apps.

With a growth mindset and a willingness to learn. Strong communication skills.

Fluency in Chinese and English (both written and spoken).

Self-motivated and response to requests in a timely manner.
