01|Scentre Group released the latest operation report

Scentre Group, the operator of Westfield shopping centres in Australia and New Zealand, has reported strong trading and leasing activity in its latest operating update, underpinned by continued consumer engagement and retailer performance across its portfolio.

For the 18 weeks to 4 May 2025, the Group recorded 179 million customer visits to its 42 Westfield destinations – an increase of 2.3% compared to the same period last year. Retail sales by business partners totalled $6.7 billion for the March quarter, up 2.8% y-o-y. On a rolling 12-month basis to 31 March 2025, partner sales reached a record $29.1 billion. All confirms the continuous value of physical consumption scenarios.

02|The Disney Adventure made its official debut at a German port

The Adventure cruise ship of Disney Cruises made its official debut at Wismar port in Germany. As the largest cruise ship in Germany, it’s 342 meters long and can accommodate up to 9,200 passengers. There are seven themed areas on board, including the roller coaster known as the "longest at sea". The cruise ship will make its maiden voyage in Singapore on 15 December, marking Disney's strategic layout to further expand the Asian cruise market.

The RHTC expansion will increase the centre’s footprint to more than 80,000m2. The project is expected to create more than 300 construction jobs and over 400 new retail positions upon completion.

Robert A. Iger, the CEO of Disney Robert A. Iger announced that Disney’s seventh theme park will be located in ABU Dhabi.

According to the official website of The Walt Disney Company, the Walt Disney Company and Miral, a developer of immersive tourism destinations in ABU Dhabi, have announced an agreement to create a landmark Disney-themed park resort in ABU Dhabi. This waterfront resort will be located on Yas Island, a world-class entertainment and leisure destination, connecting tourists from the Middle East and other regions. 02|Tsim Sha Tsui in Hong Kong topped the list of the world's most expensive retail locations for Q4 of 2024

Recently, Savills released the "2025 Global Luxury Retail Report", which pointed out that despite the challenges faced by the global economy, the core markets of luxury retail will remain strong in 2024, and the rents of high-end retail properties will generally rise or remain stable. Among the 21 regions covered by the report, more than 75% recorded rent increases or unchanged.

In terms of retail rents, Tsim Sha Tsui in Hong Kong remained the region with the highest high-end retail rents globally in Q4 of 2024, with the main annual rent per square meter reaching €17,132. It’s reported that Galderma, the parent company of Cetaphil has released its Q1 2025 financial results: revenue increased by 8.3% y-o-y to $1.13 billion, reaching a record high.

During the period, all product categories and regions showed a strong performance momentum. The revenue of injectable beauty products increased by 9.9% y-o-y. Revenue from dermatological skin care products increased by 7.8%. Revenue from products for treating dermatology increased by 4.9%. 04|Coach's sales soared by 13% in Q3

Tapestry Group, the parent company of Coach, reported for Q3 of fiscal year 2025 ending 29 March that its sales increased by 7% y-o-y to $1.584 billion, exceeding market expectations. Its net profit rose by 45% y-o-y to $203.3 million, thanks to the strong performance of its core brand Coach.

During the period, Coach's sales soared by 13% y-o-y to $1.294 billion, mainly attributed to the continuous growth in full-price handbag sales. The sales of Kate Spade dropped by 13% to $245 million. Sales of Stuart Weitzman dropped by 18% to $46.2 million. Thanks to Coach's growth momentum and the limited impact of tariffs, Tapestry Group has raised its full-year performance forecast for the third time.

American Sportswear outdoor apparel group Columbia showed that net sales increased by 1% y-o-y to $778 million in Q1 of fiscal year 2025, increased by 3% (calculated at constant exchange rates). The gross profit margin was 50.9%, and the net profit was recorded at $42.25 million.

Both revenue and profit exceeded market expectations. Among them, international market sales accounted for 40% of the total revenue, and almost all overseas markets achieved growth. Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region performed particularly strongly, with sales achieving double-digit growth.

Recently, the American sports brand Skechers has agreed to be acquired by the global investment company 3G Capital. According to the agreement reached by both sides, 3G Capital will acquire Skecher at a cash price of $63 per share, with a total transaction value of approximately $9.4 billion.
