On May 12, State Grid Taizhou Power Supply Company, in collaboration with Dingchong New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. and Xinghua Public Transport Group, pioneered a "PV Priority + Smart Load Shifting" operational model through tripartite government-enterprise coordination. Leveraging 11 bus charging stations, this model establishes a source-grid-load-storage coordination system. It achieves peak shaving of 2,000 kW during high-demand periods through "dual-timeframe load transfer," while boosting photovoltaic (PV) consumption by over 15%. This innovation ensures grid security during peak summer power demand and unlocks new pathways for efficient renewable energy adoption in the transportation sector.

In Xinghua City, Taizhou, the company coordinated with Dingchong New Energy Technology to conduct dedicated technical studies. The three parties – including the grid operator, new energy technology provider, and public transport operator – reached consensus on optimizing electric bus charging operations under the "PV Priority, Smart Load Shifting" framework.

To address grid regulation challenges during summer peak periods, power supply authorities proposed an innovative "dual-interval load management" solution: guiding buses to concentrate charging activities during PV output peaks (11:00 AM–1:00 PM) while intelligently shifting evening peak charging loads (originally 6:00–9:00 PM) to post-9:00 PM slots. The "local PV consumption + time-shifted load transfer" mechanism effectively realizes grid load "peak shaving and valley filling." Technicians validated the solution by debugging core functions of the charging management platform, including real-time load monitoring, dynamic strategy optimization, and remote charging pile control.

"By implementing the 'monitoring-warning-response' closed-loop mechanism for flexible load regulation, we alleviate transformer overloading risks and optimize power supply-demand balance during evening peaks, effectively reducing renewable energy curtailment," stated Bao Zonglei, director of the marketing department at State Grid Xinghua Power Supply Company.

During the upcoming summer peak season, the company will implement dedicated supervision protocols with on-duty personnel specifically assigned to ensure operational safety during midday PV consumption periods and nighttime off-peak charging windows. (By Yang Yi, Wu Junyang)
