"Now I can check my electricity balance and usage analysis on my phone every day—I no longer need to visit the business hall," said a resident on July 24 at the Black Dragon Village electricity service station in Yaodian Town, Dengzhou City, Nanyang. Staff from the State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company patiently explained how to use the “State Grid Online” app to the local villagers.
To better meet the electricity needs of rural customers and further extend service coverage in the countryside, the State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company has guided its county-level subsidiaries to establish shared office models in collaboration with village committees. This initiative aims to optimize resource allocation and strengthen integration between local governments and the power utility. At these service points, a coordinated service model involving both Power Liaisons and Grid Managers has been implemented. The Grid Managers are district-level power managers from township substations, while the Power Liaisons are designated village committee staff. Grid Managers are required to be on-site at least one working day per week to provide integrated services such as electricity consultation, information inquiry, bill payments, and outage/reconnection notifications. They also assist with handling new connections, capacity expansions, and account modifications via the “State Grid Online” app. In addition, service point staff regularly conduct power safety awareness campaigns in homes, markets, schools, and fields, enhancing villagers’ understanding of safe electricity usage. With a thoughtful combination of “online processing + door-to-door service,” the initiative allows customers to access electricity services without leaving their homes or villages, effectively bridging the last mile of electricity service and achieving truly zero-distance convenience.
Focusing on rural revitalization, the State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company has also integrated electricity safety, infrastructure protection, and rural grid upgrades into the comprehensive service scope of townships and villages. This has led to the formation of a people-centered, government-led, utility-driven collaborative service framework. The model efficiently matches centralized rural electricity service needs, collects villagers’ feedback in real time, and provides strong support for major local infrastructure projects. In response to the diverse service requirements of rural residents, the company has implemented a “Four Approaches” model. For tech-savvy young users, it promotes the use of the mobile app; for those unfamiliar with digital tools, nearby service points are available; for those too busy to come in person, service is delivered through WeChat grid groups; and for elderly individuals living alone or with disabilities, Party Member Service Teams handle all procedures on their behalf. This ensures that “not even one trip is needed” and that rural users can access services with zero hassle.
Looking ahead, the State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company will continue to expand its service network, refine the integrated “village-grid co-construction” model, fully accommodate the personalized electricity service needs of rural communities, eliminate service blind spots, and contribute effectively to the success of rural revitalization.(By Xu Ning and Wang Yagang)
