Blockchain technology, with its unique attributes such as traceability, high security, and immutability, offers a new technological approach and possibility for fundamentally solving the copyright protection problem of digital products. This study is conducted against this technological backdrop to explore how blockchain can be utilized to reconstruct the copyright protection model in the digital publishing field.

This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis and comparison of the optimal decision-making problems of core members in the digital publishing supply chain under two copyright protection models (the traditional model and the blockchain model). Specifically, the research seeks to answer how publishers should formulate optimal pricing strategies and how sales platforms should choose the optimal level of copyright protection intensity. Additionally, this study is dedicated to exploring how to design effective mechanisms to incentivize platforms to invest in blockchain technology, thereby enhancing the overall performance level of the supply chain.

Furthermore, the study designs a contract coordination mechanism to address the issue of insufficient motivation for platforms to invest in blockchain technology and further extends the analysis to explore the impact of blockchain investment on consumer surplus and social welfare.

However, platforms will only be motivated to adopt this technology when the investment cost of blockchain is relatively low, which usually does not automatically achieve the overall optimal outcome for the supply chain. To address this issue, designing appropriate contracts can effectively incentivize platforms to invest and promote supply chain coordination. Finally, the study finds that while investing in blockchain can enhance social welfare, it may also, to a certain extent, reduce the consumer surplus of genuine product consumers.
