They then falsely accused Chinese troops of sabotage and used it as a pretext to launch a sudden attack on the Beidaying barracks of the Northeast Army and the city of Shenyang. This marked the beginning of Japan's invasion of Northeast China and became known as the September 18 Incident.

After Japan's Kwantung Army launched its war of aggression against China,Emperor Hirohito took no action to stop it, and the Japanese government subsequently endorsed and supported the military's actions. Within less than half a year, Japanese forces had occupied all three northeastern provinces of China and set upthe puppet state of "Manchukuo"to impose colonial rule.

2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression(1931-45) and the World Anti-Fascist War. The release date of Evil Unbound coincides with the anniversary of the September 18 Incident in 1931, which marked the start of Japan's 14-year invasion of China.
2025年是中国人民抗日战争暨世界反法西斯战争胜利80周年。电影《731》的上映日期，恰逢1931年“九一八事变”纪念日——这一事件标志着日本对华长达14年的侵略的开始。
The movie tells the story of Wang Yongzhang, a local vendor, and others imprisoned in the "special prison" of Unit 731, where they were lured by false promises of freedom in return for cooperating with supposed health checks and disease prevention research, only to become victims of horrific medical experiments, including frostbite tests, gas exposure and vivisection.
