The small village of Greystone was quiet and predictable, nestled in a valley surrounded by rolling hills. For as long as 18-year-old Claire could remember, nothing ever changed. That was, until the arrival of the mysterious newcomer.

The old cottage at the end of the lane had been abandoned for years, its shutters hanging loose, and ivy crawling up its stone walls. When Claire noticed the flicker of lights one evening, she couldn’t resist her curiosity.

“Who would move into that old place?” her friend Ben asked as they walked by the next morning.

Claire shrugged. “I don’t know, but I’m going to find out.”

That evening, she knocked on the weathered wooden door. It creaked open, revealing a young man about her age with tousled dark hair and striking blue eyes.

“Hi,” Claire said, suddenly nervous. “I live nearby and thought I’d welcome you to Greystone.”

The boy hesitated before giving a shy smile. “Thanks. I’m Luke.”
