In May, the Guangfo South Ring and Foshan-Dongguan Intercity Railwaywere connected with the already operational Foshan-Zhaoqing and Dongguan-Huizhou Intercity Railways, forming a main east-west corridor connecting the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). In November, the Haibang Station welcomed commuters from the Asian Games City, as the East Extension of Line 3 (from Panyu Square to Haibang) started operation. In December, Line 11 and the North Extension of the Guangzhou-Qingyuan Intercity Railwayopened. Therefore, the total "subway + intercity" mileage operated by Guangzhou Metro in the GBA is beyond 1,000 kilometers.

At the start of the new year, in addition to the "track completion" of several new intercity subway lines, there is also good news from the "X" shaped diagonal lines in Guangzhou Metro's network plan: line 10, the structural backbone line running northeast to southwest, has successfully completed the "three rights" transfer of Guanggang New Town Maintenance Depot and officially entered the trial operation. This is Guangzhou Metro's first maintenance depot with real estate development above for a GOA4 subway line (GOA4 means that the subway train can be automatically controlled without any staff on board).

To date, the civil engineering of Line 10 (Xilang - Shipai Bridge) has been completed by 91%. Line 10 (from Middle Guangzhou Avenue to Xilang) is approximately 15 kilometers long and serves as a line to densify the subway network for the central areas of four major districts: Tianhe, Yuexiu, haizhu, and Liwan. Particularly, its western end connects with the Guangfo Line, which is strategically significant for achieving population relocation to peripheral urban areas, strengthening the intercity rail transit connection between Guangzhou and Foshan, and promoting the Guangzhou-Foshan integration.

Line 12, another line in the "X" shaped diagonal linesrunning northwest to southeast, Has another section of the track area entering the trial operation. Line 12 starts in the west at Xunfenggang and ends in the east at the Higher Education Mega Center South, connecting the Baiyun Railway Station and interchanging with Line 6 and Line 10 (under construction) at Donghu. The line fills the gap in rail transit in areas such as the southwestern part of Baiyun District, Ersha Island, and the eastern part of Haizhu District. The civil engineering of Line 12 (Xunfenggang — Higher Education Mega Center South) has been completed by 91%, which means that the construction of both subway lines on Guangzhou's "X" shaped diagonal lines has exceeded ninety percent. The "ring + cross + X-shaped" subway network structure is gradually taking shape.

In 2025, Guangzhou Metro is expected to open 10 sections totaling 173 kilometers of subway lines and intercity railways, including some sections of Line 10, Line 12, Line 14 (Phase II), Line 13 (Phase II), and Line 22 (Phase II). The intercity railways to be opened include the Xintang-Baiyun Airport-Guangzhoubei Intercity Railway, the Guangzhou-Foshan East Ring, the Pazhou Branch of the Pearl River Delta Intercity Railway, and the Guangzhou-Qingyuan Intercity from Guangzhou Baiyun to Guangzhoubei. The mileage of subway and intercity railways in the GBA continues to be updated.

“轨道上的大湾区”加速形成

新年伊始,除了多条城际地铁新线“轨通”,广州地铁线网规划中“X”形对角线也传来好消息:东北-西南走向的结构骨干线——10号线广钢新城车辆段顺利完成“三权”移交,正式进入运营调试阶段。这是广州地铁首个移交的最高等级GOA4全自动驾驶上盖开发车辆段。

截至目前,10号线(西塱-石牌桥)土建工程累计完成91%。10号线广州大道中至西塱段全长约15公里,是天河、越秀、海珠、荔湾四大组团中心区的轨道“加密线”,尤其是西端与广佛线衔接,对实现人口向外围城区转移、加强广佛两市轨道交通衔接、推动广佛同城化发展进程具有重要的战略意义。

“X”形对角线中西北-东南走向的结构骨干线——12号线又一段轨行区进入运营调试阶段。12号线西起浔峰岗,东至大学城南,串联白云火车站,在东湖与6号线、10号线(建设中)换乘。线路填充了白云区西南部、二沙岛、海珠区东部等区域的轨道交通空白。12号线(浔峰岗—大学城南)土建工程累计完成91%,也就是说,广州“X”形对角线的两条地铁线路建设进度均超过九成,“环形+十字+X形”的地铁线网结构正逐步完善。

2025年,广州地铁预计开通10条(段)173公里“地铁+城际”,包含10号线、12号线、14号线二期的部分区段,13号线二期、22号线后通段等地铁新线,城际铁路包括新白广城际、广佛东环、珠三角城际铁路琶洲支线、广清城际广州白云至广州北段。大湾区“地铁+城际”里程继续刷新。
