Recently, a post titled "American Netizen Searches for Old School Friend on Xiaohongshu" has garnered widespread attention. American netizen Katharina posted a video stating that she had formed a deep friendship with Chinese exchange student Simon during middle school. After Simon returned to China, they lost contact, and she hoped to reconnect with him through Xiaohongshu. "Simon, I miss you." On January 17th, a reporter from the Yangcheng Evening News contacted the two. Simon was visibly emotional during the interview. He revealed that he is currently a junior at the Rhode Island School of Design and had gone to a school in Iowa, USA, as an exchange student during his second year of middle school. As a newcomer, he faced language barriers and had few friends, but fortunately, he met Katharina. They attended art, history, and computer classes together, spending time together both in and out of class, often sharing meals and conversations.

A year later, Simon had to return to China abruptly, and they lost touch. Speaking about the reason for searching for him, Katharina expressed that this friendship was incredibly precious and a memory she would always cherish.

When a high school classmate forwarded Katharina's search post to Simon, he initially found it "unreal" and couldn't believe someone was using Xiaohongshu to find a friend from so long ago. However, after carefully reading the post, Simon confirmed its authenticity and sent a private message to Katharina. They successfully recognized each other and initiated a video call, catching up and sharing their experiences over the years, both shocked and delighted by reconnecting in such a way.

Regarding future plans, as both are quite busy, they haven't had the chance to think it through. But Simon mentioned that just reconnecting is great, and meeting in person will happen eventually.

Recently, a large number of overseas users have flocked to Chinese social platforms like Xiaohongshu, jokingly referring to themselves as "TikTok refugees" and interacting amicably with Chinese netizens. "I don't often use social apps like TikTok, but I believe they serve as excellent bridges," Simon said. It is because of these bridges that netizens from around the world have broken through spatial and temporal boundaries to establish connections, which is inherently very meaningful.

Katharina, on the other hand, is very interested in Chinese social software. On January 15th, she posted her first update on Xiaohongshu. As of the time of writing, her account has 12 posts, mostly sharing her life and posing curious questions about China. She stated that Chinese netizens are friendly and hospitable, and she finds them very interesting, planning to continue sharing more stories on Xiaohongshu.

1月17日，羊城晚报全媒体记者联系到两人。Simon在接受采访时难掩激动。他透露，自己目前是罗德岛设计学院的大三学生，初二时作为交换生前往美国爱荷华州一所学校学习。初来乍到的他语言不通，好友不多，幸运的是结识了Katharina。他们一起上艺术、历史、计算机课，课上课下都形影不离，常一起吃饭、聊天。

一年后，Simon仓促回国，两人就此失联。谈及寻人原因，Katharina表示这段友谊无比珍贵，是她永远会珍惜的回忆。

当高中同学把Katharina的寻人帖发给Simon时，他起初觉得“不真实”，不敢相信有人用小红书找这么久之前的朋友。但仔细看完帖子，Simon确认了真实性，随即发私信给Katharina，两人顺利相认并开启视频通话，尽情叙旧，分享多年来的经历，对以这种方式恢复联系倍感震惊。

对于后续安排，由于双方都很忙碌，还没来得及细想。但Simon表示，恢复联系就很好，见面也是迟早的事。

近段时间，以小红书为首的中国社交平台上涌入了大量海外用户，他们调侃自己是“TikTok难民”，与中国网友友好互动。“我并不常使用TikTok等社交软件，但我本身觉得它们是很好的桥梁。”Simon表示，正是因为有了这些桥梁，来自世界各地的网友打破了时空界限，建立起了联系，这件事本身就非常有意义。

Katharina则对中国社交软件很感兴趣。1月15日，她在小红书上发出了第一条动态，截至发稿，账号上已有12条帖子，内容大多是分享自己的生活和对中国的好奇提问。她直言中国网友友好热情，十分有趣，会继续在小红书分享更多故事。
