The emergence of DeepSeek has sent shockwaves through the global technology community. At the 2025 Guangdong Provincial High-Quality Development Conference, Liu Wei, Chairman of the AI companyPCI Technology Group Co., Ltd., shared three insights brought by DeepSeek.
The first insight is that China has the capability to compete with the United States in the fundamental theories of artificial intelligence, especially in the algorithmic models of basic operations. In the past, it was believed that although China had certain advantages in the application areas of artificial intelligence, it lagged behind in the realm of fundamental theories. The advent of DeepSeek has shattered this perception, offering a completely different technical approach from the United States, particularly in the algorithms of foundational large models and heterogeneous theories.
The second insight is that DeepSeek's research and development team consists of only about 100 people, all of whom are domestic Chinese undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students. This demonstrates that China's foundational talent and basic education have caught up with international top-tier institutions.
The third insight is that while Chinese artificial intelligence has long been considered as playing catch-up through imitation, with the development in foundational large models, China has the potential to reach international top-tier levels in AI technological capabilities, or to maintain parity with the United States at a certain stage.

第一个启迪是中国在人工智能的基础理论，特别是基础业务的算法模型上，有能力跟美国在全球并驾齐驱。过去，我们认为中国的人工智能在应用领域有一定优势，但在基础理论的领域，我们弱于别人。DeepSeek的出现打破了这个认知，它在基础大模型算法特别是异构理论上，给了与美国完全不一样的技术路线。
第二个启迪是DeepSeek的研发团队只有100人左右，全部是中国本土在校本科生、研究生和博士生，这证明中国的基础人才、基础教育已经赶上了国际一流学校。
第三个启迪是中国的人工智能一直被认为是追赶模仿，但在基础大模型方面发展了起来以后，中国有可能在人工智能的技术能力上，赶上国际一流水平，或者在某一个阶段与美国保持平行。
