“The Greater Bay Area has been a development region.” During the interview with SFC journalist at the “Two Sessions” 2025 period, Paul Gruenwald, the Global Chief Economist at S&P Global Ratings, pointed out that there's also a lot of innovation and dynamism around Guangdong and that part of China.

He recognized that as the RMB becomes a more internationalized currency and China moves up the value chain for a lot of these cutting-edge products, the financial role of Hong Kong and the innovation role of Guangdong will become more and more important in the future.
