子曰：“学而时习之，不亦说乎？有朋自远方来，不亦乐乎？人不知而不愠，不亦君子乎？”
【白话文】
孔子说：“不断地学，又时常地练习，不是一件很愉快的事吗？有志同道合的人从远方而来，（随我学习），不也非常快乐吗？别人不了解我，我并不因此而不高兴，这不就是道德高尚的君子吗？”
【英译】
Confucius remarked,"It is indeed a pleasure to acquire knowledge and, as you go on acquiring, to put into practice what you have acquired. A greater pleasure it is when friends of congenial minds still come from afar to seek you because of your attainments. But he’s truly a wise and good man who feels no discomposure even when he is not noticed of men."

子曰：“温故而知新，可以为师矣。”
【白话文】
孔子说：“在温习旧的知识时，能够从中得到启悟，从而有了新的发现，这便可以为老师了。”
【英译】
Confucius remarked,"If a man will constantly go over what he has acquired and keep continually adding to it new acquirements, he may become a teacher of men."

子曰：“学而不思则罔，思而不学则殆。”
【白话文】
孔子说：“只知道学习，却不加精思，就会迷惘；只会空想，而不学习，就会危殆不安。”
【英译】
Confucius remarked,"Study without thinking is labour lost. Thinking without study is perilous."

子曰：“君子喻于义，小人喻于利。”
【白话文】
孔子说：“君子懂得的是义，小人懂得的是利。”
【英译】
Confucius remarked,"A wise man sees what is right in a question; a fool sees what is advantageous to himself."

子曰：“知之者不如好之者，好之者不如乐之者。”
【白话文】
孔子说：“（对于学习与万事万物的道理而言）知道的人不如喜好的人，喜好的人不如以此为乐的人。”
【英译】
The Master said, "He who merely knows the Way is not equal to he who loves it. And he who loves it is not equal to he who delights in it."

曾子曰：“士不可不弘毅，任重而道远。仁以为己任，不亦重乎？死而后已，不亦远乎？”
【白话文】
曾子说：“士人不能不刚强而有毅力，因为他的负担很重，道路遥远。他以实现仁德为自己的担负，这不是很重吗？一直到死方休，不是很遥远吗？”
【英译】
Zengzi said, "A scholar must be both sturdy and steadfast, for his burden is heavy and his road is long. Benevolence is his burden; is that not heavy one? Only with death does his road end; is that not a long one?"
