A list of China's second batch of 26 pilot cities for new-type technological transformation in manufacturing sector was released recently. Zhuzhou City of Hunan Province made the list, according to the Zhuzhou Bureau of Industry and Information Technology.

As one of the eight key industry-oriented cities in China, Zhuzhou boasts a number of remarkable "calling cards" – the world's largest R&D and manufacturing base for rail transit equipment; China's exclusive production base for small and medium-sized aero-engines; the biggest cemented carbide producer in Asia; and, the global leader in electrical porcelain manufacturing. The city has given birth to over 340 "firsts" in China's industrial development history, and currently hosts 12 national and provincial-level industrial clusters, ranking first in Hunan Province.

In recent years, Zhuzhou's rail transit equipment, aviation power, and ceramic industries have demonstrated strong momentum for transformation and upgrading. An array of Zhuzhou-based large state-owned enterprises such as CRRC, AECC (Aero Engine Corporation of China), and BAIC Group have continuously enhanced technological transformation. This has significantly advanced the high-end, intelligent, and green development of upstream and downstream enterprises across the industrial chain.
