With advanced tactile sensors embedded in robotic fingers, humanoid robots are now capable of performing intricate tasks such as gripping with remarkable precision. This cutting-edge tactile sensing technology is already being developed by Moxian Technology (Dongguan) Co., Ltd. ("Moxian Technology"), based in Songshan Lake, Dongguan.

"We're able to achieve high-density coverage of electronic skin," said Wang Xin, head of marketing at Moxian Technology. According to Wang, one of the company's electronic skin products features 96 tactile points spaced just 0.8 millimeters apart, making it the highest-density electronic skin currently available on the market. The company has also achieved spacing as narrow as 0.2 millimeters, which allows for even greater tactile resolution and represents one of its most significant competitive advantages.

What sets Moxian's electronic skin apart is its ability to be customized. Wang explained that while most producers rely on modular designs to create electronic skin, such solutions often struggle to adapt to the unique structures of different robotic hands. "With die-cutting technology, we can tailor the skin to any shape a client requires, ensuring a perfect fit across the entire palm," Wang noted.

In addition, Moxian's product offers flexible encapsulation, enhancing the adaptability and effectiveness of its sensors. Wang noted that joint areas in robotic armsplace higher demands on the conformability of electronic skin. Moxian Technology's products can wrap seamlessly around the entire robotic structure, significantly boosting sensor sensitivity. "Think of it this way, if a person has no skin on the soles of their feet, they wouldn't know how to apply pressure properly, and couldn't walk steadily. Robots are no different." Wang said.

Moxian Technology is just one example of Dongguan's thriving AI sector. At the 2025 Dongguan Artificial Intelligence Industry High-Quality Development Conference, local officials set ambitious goals: by 2027, Dongguan aims to establish over 10,000P in available intelligent computing power, build more than 100 AI+ advanced manufacturing demonstration scenarios, and cultivate over 300 key AI enterprises. The city is accelerating technological innovation across the AI sector and driving industrial upgrades through its "AI+" strategy.
