Pencil is from a Latin word meaning “a little tail” or “a fine brush”, like a Chinese “pen”. Later, when it was made of wood and graphite, it was still called a “pencil”. “铅笔”是拉丁词，意思是“小尾巴”或“小细刷子”，像中国的“水笔”。后来，它用木头和铅做了，但仍叫“铅笔”。
