On May 20th, a Cantonese group wedding was held in Liwan District, Guangzhou, bringing together 20 couples from across the country. Mr. Liu from Northeast China and his bride from the Chaoshan region had just registered their marriage. Upon hearing about the event, they decided to sign up. "We're a 'north-south' couple and wanted to attend this traditional Cantonese wedding as a memorial in Guangzhou". Mr. Liu shared.

The ceremony was hosted by Lu Yanwu, a recognized city-level inheritor of Cantonese wedding customs. She recreated a traditional wedding setup with a symbolic gate adorned with thorns and bells, which is passed down through generations in her family. "The culture of the 'thorn-and-bell gate' can date back more than 200 years. The bells are family heirlooms that symbolize harmony and mutual support in marriage," she explained.

The wedding incorporated a range of traditional Chinese rituals, including the Ceremony of Three Bows for the Phoenixes, the Thread-Knotting Ceremony, and a vow exchange. Grooms also placed headpieces made of cypress leaves and red string on their brides, symbolizing enduring love. Lu Yanwu also offered blessings through a traditional form of singing, blending Xianshui, a traditional style of folk music and Cantonese opera melodies.

Meanwhile, the "Liwan Happiness Market" sweet economy fair also opened on-site, showcasing traditional wedding goods such as gold pig medals, dragon and phoenix bracelets, and pomelo water. "We've specially prepared 24K gold-plated pig medals, which symbolize fertility and good fortune," Lu said. Pomelo water has also been upgraded into a spray format, representing "spraying away worries and welcoming a new life."

广府集体婚礼为20对新人贺喜

5月20日，一场广府集体婚礼在广州荔湾举行，吸引了来自大江南北的20对新人参与。来自东北的刘先生与潮汕籍妻子刚登记结婚，听说有集体婚礼，便决定报名参加。“我们是‘南北结合’，想以这场广府婚礼作为在广州的纪念。”刘先生说。

活动现场，广府婚俗非遗市级代表性传承人卢燕武（“八姑姐”）担任“大妗姐”，主持仪式。她带来了家族传承的“荆铃门”，为新人布置传统婚礼场景。她介绍：“‘荆铃门’文化可追溯至200多年前，铃铛是我们家族代代相传的物品，寓意新人婚后协力同心、共渡难关。”

婚礼现场还保留了鸾凤三揖礼、千丝结缘礼、宣誓等中式仪式，新郎还为新娘佩戴由柏叶、红绳组成的头饰，象征感情长久。卢燕武还以传统说唱形式送上祝福，结合咸水歌与粤剧腔调。

当天“荔湾囍市”甜蜜经济市集同步开市，展示金猪牌、龙凤手镯、柚子水等婚庆用品。“我们特意准备了镀24K金的金猪牌，寓意多子多福。”卢燕武介绍，柚子水也升级为喷雾款，寓意新人洒去烦恼，迎接新生活。
