Recently, American students from the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Washington, and other institutions joined their peers from Guangdong University of Technology (GDUT) for an 8-day journey exploring green and low-carbon development across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).
During the study tour, participants delved into the region's frontiers of green energy, circular economy, low-carbon transportation, and institutional innovation. In the laboratories of GDUT's School of Ecology and Environmental Resources, technicians demonstrated cutting-edge technologies in carbon accounting, energy conservation, emission reduction, ecological restoration, and analytical testing, sparking strong interest in environmental protection among the participants.
The program also featured immersive cultural experiences that integrated traditional heritage with modern development concepts. Activities such as shadow puppet-making, guqin performances, and pottery workshops left students in awe, while hands-on sessions like making Cantonese dim sum and the popular dessert "mango pomelo sago" had the American participants exclaiming, "Delicious!" Visits to iconic sites such as Zhujiang New Town, Yongqing Fang, the Cantonese Opera Museum, Nanfeng Kiln lion dance shows, and the wildlife conservation activities at Chimelong Safari Park offered unique insight into the harmony between cultural heritage and ecological conservation. Through these experiences, the participants gained a deeper appreciation of sustainable development and the profound richness of traditional Chinese culture.

中美青年共探粤港澳大湾区绿色发展之路
近日，来自加利福尼亚大学伯克利分校、华盛顿大学等的美国学生和广工青年一起，开展了为期8天的绿色低碳探索之旅。
研修期间，营员们带着问题到粤港澳大湾区在绿色能源、循环经济、低碳交通和机制创新方面的前沿去探索。在广工生态环境与资源学院的实验室里，技术人员现场介绍碳排放核算、节能减排、生态修复、分析测试等方面的前沿技术，激发营员对生态环保的兴趣和热情。
活动还特别组织了文化体验环节，通过非遗活化传承、舌尖生态和城市印象三大特色体验，有机融合传统文化与现代发展理念。皮影戏制作、古琴演奏、陶艺体验令营员们阵阵惊叹；粤式早茶制作、杨枝甘露DIY让美方营员直呼“Delicious！”探访珠江新城地标群、永庆坊、粤剧博物馆、南风古灶舞狮表演以及长隆野生动物保护科普活动，诠释了文化传承与生态保护的共生智慧，让营员感知可持续发展的人文内涵及中华民族传统文化的博大精深。
