Mabuhay！I'm Carlos Solomon Jr，I arrived in New Zealand last year，from the Philippines.

I'm studying health care and well-being，level four.

We are support workers for patients who have disabilities and addictions.

The first time，I arrived at school，my classmates were so loud.

"Oh welcome，welcome here！"They are so jolly in class.

People welcome you in a positive way.

Now I have more confidence because we collaborate and we always support each other.

It helped boost my personality，gain more knowledge and skills，and also help me to mould my well-being.

In the morning，when we are starting our class，we do the karakia (Maori prayer).

Maori culture and some Pasifika.

After that，we have group scenarios.

What we learn is what are the possible outcomes that we can apply when we're doing our practicum or in the workplace.

What you achieve is hands-on experience.

My classmates here，it's like having new sisters and brothers There's a lot of nationalities in our class.

So I feel enlightened because we learn from each other's background and culture.

I'm the first one from my mother's side going to New Zealand.

So my mum and my father are always proud of me.

After I graduate，I will be a support worker.

I want to be another helping hand for the aged care and kids who have disabilities.

it's near to my heart.

my education here set me up to have a better future and to fulfil my dreams.
